ON YOUR TOES made history when it opened in the fall of 1936 with its unprecedented fusion of classical ballet and Broadway musical tradition. Brilliantly choreographed by George Balanchine- the Maestro of modern ballet- Rogers and Hart's masterwork awed critics and audiences alike, introducing standards like "There's A Small Hotel," and culminating in the unforgettable dramatic dance sequence "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue."
In 1990, ON YOUR TOES once again made history the Stuttgart Ballet recreated it and became the first ballet company to perform a full-length musical. Helmed by artistic director and longtime prima ballerina, Marcia Haydee, the Broadway musical was triumphantly brought to the European stage by choreographer Larry Fuller, famous for his work on "Evita."
V.I.E.W. Video is proud to present a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at "THE MAKING OF this historic production. From rehearsal through performance, we accompany Haydee and her Corps de Ballet as they redefine an American musical classic with their flare and technical finesse.
