5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute read for all new investors., August 28, 1998

This review is from: Making it in the market: Richard Ney's low risk system for stock market investors (Hardcover)
NYSE specialist operations are described in length, in order to assist the investor in understanding how the exchange really operates. Detailed charts are included for selected stocks. Read this, and stop listening to the the financial news for a while to see what a diffenence this can make for your long term investments. (Just an oberservation based on my experience using the principles described). It would be best if you read Mr Ney's previous book, "The Wall Street Gang" which has even more details on stock exchange specialists activities. This is not an easy read, but after studying the finer points of the book, it will become easier to understand as time goes on.

This review is from: Making it in the market: Richard Ney's low risk system for stock market investors (Hardcover)
I used to listen to Richard Ney interviews on the Los Angeles Business Channel (now off the air). Ney always talked about the market makers "specialist" and buying and selling as they do. He repeatedly showed profits taking market makers' buy and sell signals. He was able to show how they create "synthetic" markets and the divergences from economic reality.

I rate this book 5 stars because Mr. Ney had the guts to discuss the way America's financial oligarchy operates and he was able to make money for his clients. I do not think there is a good way to track what the specialist are doing today (not sure if Mr. Ney could make it work now) but it is worth learning what you are really up against in the market.
