Vacation Memories Plates,
By
This review is from: Makit Make a Plate Kit (Toy)
My husband made these plates when he was a kid 35 years ago and our kids eat off them when we visit Grandma and Grandpa. They get a real kick out of it! Now we make our own plates after each vacation. We've got about 20 plates now (we have four kids) and we use them for lunch day after day. Tip: take away the black marker from you kids and don't have them draw with pencil first unless very, very lightly. I go back and erase all i can when they're all finished. What the rater said about the ordering is true. I just make my own forms and send them on. I've never had a problem. Customer Service told me to do it that way. I do wish they'd send out more forms and mailing boxes though as they are an odd size. It's worth it though!

While it's nice to have the kids drawings on a plate, be aware that the kit's price only includes ONE free plate. Shipping is $3 and you have to pay $7.95 for each additional plate you want. The plates cannot be used in the microwave, which makes it very inconvenient when you want to serve warm meal. If you lost the order form, forget the free plate, you paid your money for nothing!!!! Customer service will not help you, you'll have to pay $7.95 plus $3 shipping, that's in addition to the $12.99 you paid for the kit!!! I think I'll keep my kids' drawings on the wall and not bother sending for the plate!

My daughter did this in preschool with an "I love You Mom" written on it. I keep it on my dresser for odds and ends and I love having it.

Our family has made these for years. We have quite a collection that the children - and now the grandchildren - love looking at and eating off of. In the past the children each made a plate but now we make a family plate each year with everyone - even the little ones - adding something to it.

Fabulous gift for birthdays and yearly holiday gifts! My children (now 22 and 25) made one every year since they were 3 years old and we used them every day until college days. What a story in plates was told - the ice storm in 1991, playing a harmonica, having a weird brother, and many other pictures that we got to see every day.I can't think of a better gift for children to make for themselves, their parents, grandparents and to share with friends! At my daughter's Headstart, each child was able to make a plate to remember the school year. It turned out so cute that I went on Amazon & bought a kit so my daughter's teacher could have each of her students in the class sign a plate for her to thank her for a great year & remember each of them. I'm sure I'll buy more of these kits down the road perhaps for gifts or for keeping my kids art work from different ages. The kids love to eat off of them so they help encourage them to eat a little of everything.

These plates deliver for years,

Well, I can testify here that we made our first plates about 12 years ago, and they are still bright and clear. So, they're durable enough to stand up to years of use. Also, the kids have always loved having their own special plates.

So worth it!!! I'm 30 and made one of these when I was around 9. My kids found mine and they all thought it was so neat. It was great to see my artwork appreciated years later! And now they can do the same.

Nice idea for a gift but the plate was basically unusable. It cannot be put in the Microwave because it is made from Melamine, the same material that contaminated China's powdered milk supply.
