Match battery and charger,

This review is from: Makita 1920194 9100 9.6-Volt 1.3 Amp Hour Pod Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is Makita's low end (1.3 amp hour) battery, a.k.a. #9100, typically sold with their low cost drill kits. It provides limited use without recharging. Don't be tempted to buy a higher amp hour battery (Makita makes several) unless your charger will handle it. The charger will list the batteries it will service. The rub is that the low cost kit chargers won't charge anything but the low amp hour batteries.

It's best to have 2 batteries, one for use and one for the charger. This way one is ready to go whenever your devise battery has run out of power. Only problem with this idea is the cost is almost the same as a complete drill kit that includes 2 batteries. Makes you think about the price of batteries. I see many kits for $ and the replacement batteries for them run $ each. They must be giving away the drill and rechargers knowing the battery sales will make up. Happy drilling.

Not worth the money.,

This review is from: Makita 1920194 9100 9.6-Volt 1.3 Amp Hour Pod Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
When I puchased my Makita 9.6V Drill/Driver, it came with 2 of these 9.6V batteries; after 2 years, they stopped taking a charge and I've looked around to replace them. I found the price for these replacement battery packs to be ridiculous... I found a new 14.4V drill/driver (different brand) with 2 battery packs and charger for only twenty dollars more than the cost of 1 of these Makita replacement batteries. So I would throw out your old Makita and shop for a new model with 2 batteries... it just makes no sense to pay these prices for replacement batteries. Also, since these Ni-Cad batteries have probably been sitting in a warehouse for years without a charge, you can bet they will have a shortened life.
