5.0 out of 5 stars Standard battery pack
I got about three years out of a pair of these with moderate use. Will probably upgrade to the 2.2AH units since this drill is rather hungry for power and you got to have a charger handy if you are going to do serious work. A pair of replacements cost almost as much as the kit was 3 years ago. Makes the drill close to disposable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Purposefully engineered to fail!
In the 4 years the I have owned the Makita drill I have owned 5 batteries. One of the 2.2 AH batteries failed within 6 months, warranty covered that one. Purchased two Ni-Ca in 2002 and they have already failed with only moderate use. At $90 to $100 for a pair, you might as well toss the drill as the other reviewer stated. 5.0 out of 5 stars Better then NiMH, November 5, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Makita 1925982 1222 12-Volt 2.0 Amp Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
I use these batteries in 12 volt Makita system tools ranging from simple drills to concrete vibrators on job sites. The output voltage on these are higher than the NiMH batteries. It makes a significant difference for blowers and impact screw guns and my crews get more work done at the end of the day.

Most new Makita 12 volt tool kits come with the NiMH's, when they're spent, I replace them with the "old fashioned" non high tech NiCads.

I am sure that Makita is right that the NiMH batteries have more storage capacity than these NiCads, but with many back up batteries on job site, the higher torque and speed of the tools using this battery far outweighs an extra battery change or two in a work day.

Received the battery and put it in the charger. After charging overnight, the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Returned battery for credit.

Purchased these genuine Makita batteries after buying cheap Chinese rubbish which failed in no time. Half the price for what we pay In Australia.
Delivery time was as quoted. Not a problem.

Great batteries. Pricey but worth it. I had a 6-yr-old Makita cordless drill, had been dead for a couple of years. Feels like new now!

Be aware that the web site does not state what chargers will work with this battery. I followed a previous review and ordered the 1222 12V 2.0 Amp hour vs the 1220 12V 1.3Amp hour battery. After receiving the batteries I found that they were not compatable with my charger. Had to return the 2.0 Amp hour and reorder the 1.3 Amp hour battery.

the battery you sent me was dead. it wouldn't take a charge. makita 1-800 tech support said to send it to their nearest service center, which i did. that was 3 weeks ago and i haven't heard back. dead battery and lousy tech support. not a pretty picture.
