Yay, I found one!
My Ace Hardware, the local distributor of the Mikita line, doesn't carry (and wouldn't special order for me) this 9.6 volt battery. I'm thinking they wanted me to upgrade to the next and newest. But I really like my currant driver/drill, it's the perfect size for me and it still works great. Now that I've found the battery for it I'm set!

I don't think it is a real Makita
This battery looks kind of a like a Makita, but does not bear the name. It seems to fail to hold a charge well. Buy a real Makita battery, this isn't it.

I got my Makita drill used, several years ago, when a sheet metal construction group replaced their old Makitas with a newer version. My Makita came with two batteries. Recently, just when my sons were beginning a project during which my Makita would be used extensively, one of the old batteries died. I found a 9-3/5-Vold NiCad replacement battery on Amazon; the price was very good, so I ordered two of this item.
The batteries arrived in excellent condition, in the time frame promised. I am very pleased to report that my old Makita is acting like a new drill with the new batteries, and my sons' project has gone much more quickly because of the "new energy" these batteries provide.

brought my drill back to like new performance. I'm a boat mechanic and use my drill and flashlight all day long. After 5 years the old batteries needed constant charging so i broke down and bought one. I was glad i did and you will be too!

Some replacement items are just that-not qenuine. But, this is the same as the two that came with the Drill in '97-one of them is still taking a charge & this one powers it like New!
