4.0 out of 5 stars A Mean Little Monster
If you do a lot of low-level home improvement, this is a great saw!

I mostly do panel work, trim, and small woodworking. Usually, a full-size circular saw is too cumbersome, and the flimsy blade of a jigsaw makes it hard to maintain a consistent line.

This little monster cuts through ANYTHING, and the carbide blade stays sharp and comes back for more. It's easy to...

I'm a contractor. Makita is my favorite tools. I had their 9v cordless drill for 10 years now. But I'm not happy with this tool at all. I bought for trim work, but it hasn't worked very well for anything but maybe drywall. The cordless 5 3/8 & 5 1/2 saws with a fine tooth blade blows this away. The one is buried alomg with other mistakes I bought over the years. Way...

It's easy to get a clean, straight cut on everything from 1/2" plywood to delicate formica. Even a bevelled edge comes out nice.

The only downside is a short life-span on the battery's charge. But all in all a handy and dependable saw.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a shark, I call it Mini Me., October 23, 2005

I have been using this saw for years professionally, it is a must have for the master carpenter who demands clean cuts and wants to save time on intricate cutting and scribing operations.
I have gone through a few of these over the years and am currently getting a new one.
I am surprised by the less than popular reviews, this is not meant to be used as a replacement for an electric skill saw or for heavy cutting operations like continuous rips.
This tool is best used in finish work and for special cutting operations like back cutting before sanding a scribe on a counter top for example.
I have also used it to cut out drywall in remodel work etc, saves hecka time.
This saw cuts clean and accurately it's amazing how much time you can save with this thing.
When you need a more powerful saw, use one, this saw would not be a good choice for heavy work such as riping sheets of plywood all day as it is only a 12 volt tool.
I recommend this saw to finish carpenters and cabinet installers for special cutting.
I have purchased 100's of power tools over the years and have used all the major brands of cordless and electric tools in all categories in commercial construction.
Two Thumbs Up

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best tool buys I've ever made, May 2, 2008

I built a 4300 sq ft home 4 years ago and bought this little gem to help me do the siding - about 6500 sq ft of 1x6 primed pine bevel siding. Fantastic tool! For me, cutting siding all day long for what seemed like weeks (doing it alone) the batteries held up for several hours each. Alternating two batteries would easily get me through an 8 to 10 hour day of cutting. It worked so well in this application I put it to use later doing some trim work on my IPE (ironwood) decking - cut through that dense, hard stuff like butter leaving a shiny, smooth cutting surface. For someone who hyperventilates over a new tool purchase I consider this to be one of the best small tool buys I've ever made. I'm always looking for another opportunity to put it to use and it never disappoints. What a workhorse! I'm amazed anyone could be even the least bit disappointed in this great little saw.
