A top-notch tool that holds up under years of hard use,

This review is from: Makita 6095DWE 3/8-Inch 9.6 Volt Cordless Keyless Drill with Two Batteries (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've been using this Makita cordless drill for over eight years now. The Keyless chuck provides a reliable non-slip grip on drill bits and is very easy to spin to open or close the jaws. The drill has plenty of power for spade bits and Forstner bits. It is great for driving screws. The adjustable clutch tunes well for releasing the power after a screw has set so you don't strip the screw head. There is plenty of power for driving 2" drywall screws into wood without pilot holes. With aan adapter for sockets, the Makita also makes quick work of nuts and machine screws. I got at least 6 years out of the first set of batteries. An extraordinarily durable and useful tool.

I have had two Makita 9.6 volt drills for nearly 20 years. Both still work as well as the day I purchased them. I added keyless chucks to the drills several years ago when Makita began offering after-market chucks. The batteries on average have lasted over ten years before they needed replacement. When I purchased the Makita drill it was the very best cordless drill on the market, but has since slipped. The two speed system should be upgraded to a total variable speed for driving screws. The drill has sufficent power for most household needs, but falls short when drilling heavy loads such as deck screws. The balance is good and the drill feels very natural in the hand. Considering the price of the drill is almost the same as 20 years ago it is now a bargain. My drills have been dropped, knocked around, used in the hottest heat of the summer and cold of the winter. They have drilled thousands of screws and holes. In my opinion the durability of the Makita drill is without question. For normal household use this is a very good drill. I highly recommend the Makita 9.6 volt drill.

I received this drill as a gift from the father of my then-boyfriend about 5 years ago. Through the years I have used it for everything from building my cats a jungle gym to drilling holes in shelves to small repairs. This is the PERFECT power tool for any household job. Makitas may be a little more expensive, but they're worth it in power, durability, and design. I also can't tell you how impressed men are when the learn I have one. :-) If you're in the market for a cordless to have around for years, this is your product.

I have had this drill and two batteris for 8 years with no problems. Have lost about 20% of battery life over the years of abuse, but am very satisfied. When I say abuse, I mean drilling masonry, oak, using the handle as a hammer, that kind of abuse. It's a great product!

I have used this drill driver as screwdriver for drywall. Later I got 14.4 Volt one because battery runs out quicker than the heavier 14.4 Volt one. I used this 9.6 Volt driver very roughly for many years and is still working great. Works fine for most light duty work. Get a heavier one for bigger job.

I have had my Makita for nearly ten years. I thought I was spending a lot of money, at the time but needed a cordless drill. It has been worth every penny I spent for it and then some.
