Product Description

Amazon.com Review

As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Makita's lightweight 9.6-volt cordless drill/driver was one of the first cordless drills on the market, and it has been the classic cordless tool for a generation of carpenters. We still like Makita's classic L-shape handle and user-friendly light weight. The tool fits comfortably in the palm and seems ideal for punching holes and driving screw after screw with efficiency. The forward/reverse switch sits on the top back corner of the drill, so you can't "click on the fly" as with some of the beefier Makita models. Additional features include a keyless chuck and a padded rubber handle for comfort and vibration absorption. The drill and flashlight come neatly packaged in a carrying case that's compact enough to earn a permanent place in your car or truck for whenever the need arises. --Justin Paul

From the Manufacturer

This driver/drill offers two variable speeds (0 to 400 and 0 to 1,100 rpm), maximum torque 122 inch/pounds, reversing clutch, plus a six-stage torque setting in either range for diverse drilling and driving applications. The keyless chuck provides faster and easier bit installation and removal, while the electric brake stops the chuck fast. The overload protector will help prevent motor burnout. The kit includes two 9.6-volt batteries, charger, flashlight, and a high-impact case. Weighs only 3.7 pounds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Construction Workers Preference, December 6, 1999
By
This review is from: Makita 6095DWLE-2 3/8-Inch 9.6 Volt Cordless Driver/Drill with Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
The 9.6 Makita cordless drill was selected as the drill of choice in the construction company I worked for. It was my job to buy tools for the guys. At one point we had several different models of drills going at once. In an effort to standardize our tool stock I took a formal poll among the men and they choose the Makita. Factors were; comfort of use, convenient speed control locations, & durability. Most found the 9.6V sufficient for the majority of tasks. If there was a need for more power, a plug in drill is preferred rather than a heavier battery.

3.0 out of 5 stars Makita 6095DWLE vs. Ryobi 12v, April 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Makita 6095DWLE-2 3/8-Inch 9.6 Volt Cordless Driver/Drill with Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
I agree the Makita is a good unit and easy to handle and use. The flashlight is excellent quality and the closeout price is awesome. The light weight is also easy on arms when working overhead all day. The only complaint I have is battery charge life. During a recent large duct work installation, employees using the Makita 9v were constantly changing batteries and even having to wait on the charger while I drilled into floor joists all day using an old Ryobi 12v on a single charge. If you need a drill for infrequent home use, this one would be perfect.
