Construction Workers Preference,
By Edward L Gutowski (Connecticut, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Makita 6095DWLE-2 3/8-Inch 9.6 Volt Cordless Driver/Drill with Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
The 9.6 Makita cordless drill was selected as the drill of choice in the construction company I worked for. It was my job to buy tools for the guys. At one point we had several different models of drills going at once. In an effort to standardize our tool stock I took a formal poll among the men and they choose the Makita. Factors were; comfort of use, convenient speed control locations, & durability. Most found the 9.6V sufficient for the majority of tasks. If there was a need for more power, a plug in drill is preferred rather than a heavier battery.

Makita 6095DWLE vs. Ryobi 12v,
By A Customer
This review is from: Makita 6095DWLE-2 3/8-Inch 9.6 Volt Cordless Driver/Drill with Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
I agree the Makita is a good unit and easy to handle and use. The flashlight is excellent quality and the closeout price is awesome. The light weight is also easy on arms when working overhead all day. The only complaint I have is battery charge life. During a recent large duct work installation, employees using the Makita 9v were constantly changing batteries and even having to wait on the charger while I drilled into floor joists all day using an old Ryobi 12v on a single charge. If you need a drill for infrequent home use, this one would be perfect.
