I owned 2 other Makitas. Batteries wore out before either item failed.
You can't go wrong for a 12 volt Cordless Makita. 12 volts is enough for me.

This portable drill motor fully explains why Makita tools are in great demand and are "top of the line" with the folks that use them.

Great torque available, batteries charge quickly, chuck works smoothly and with little wrist effort, powers through everything with power to spare, easy to clean, easy to maintain, the carrying case is really functional, useful and designed for its purpose. Arrived fully ready to charge and use on or ahead of the Amazon promised date. Do I seem happy with this item? Good, I hoped to convey that.

I am used to 18v tools but wanted something smaller and lighter for small spaces and to reduce fatigue from using the heavier drivers overhead to drill or put in screws. I thought I may have to scrifice power but not so. It has plenty of torque to do most any job. It is well balanced and I like the placement of the forward/reverse switch much better than the 18v DeWalt I have. The battery may not last quite as long as the 18v but the lighter weight is still worth the trade off.

I was only presented with the option to return it for a refund because they were supposedly out of stock even though it still shows that there Makita 6271DWPE 12-Volt Cordless 3/8-Inch Driver/Drill Kitare still two in stock.

When this light weight little drill first arrived, I began to wonder if I had made a big mistake. I had owned a 12 volt Dewalt that served me for years. It was much heavier. I only decided to purchase this drill because Makitas are constantly rated so high in performance test.

I must say that so far, I am VERY pleased with the performance of this drill! It is very light, yet somehow has been able to do everything I have tossed its way. I will update this as time goes on.

I have two of these drills. One drill is over five years old and has been dropped many times on the concrete floor. Although, the drill is busted up on the outside, it works perfectly. One of the batteries died so I decided to buy another one just like it. It looks a little different but the batteries can be used in both drills. The drill has plenty of torque in low gear, if needed. It is also light and well balanced.

Previously, i bought this item and expecting the flashlight as well, since its caption doesn't show before what is written right now,

im really disappointed because i really expect the flashlight. and now, upon seeing that the flashlight is not included from the link itself, i dont know if thats the real score for this item or they just forgot to include it from the day that its been posted here.

I have always had good experience with Makita products and this drill is a pleasant continuation. The human engeneering is excellent. Everything about it work great. The recharging process is impressively quick. (FWIW: The picture shows a flashlight--there is no flashlight in the kit--I had learned that from previous reviews and didn't want a flashight anyhow. Got a good drill which is what I wanted.) Buy with confidence.
