Makita says this is the world's fastest drywall screwdriver, and we haven't tried them all, so we can't really say for sure. But we can tell you that this is an amazingly fast driver that will get the drywall hanger on to the mucking before s/he can say "Sheetrock." It's incredibly light and quiet, and we can imagine it wouldn't cause much arm fatigue after a couple hours of hanging wallboard. We like the adjustable depth locator assembly and its "Sure-Lock" feature for no-miss depth setting. Just turn the locking sleeve in one direction for less depth and the other direction for more. A full turn gives you a change of about 1/16-inch. Trial and error will get you to the exact depth you need. The trigger's large, something we especially like, and the lock-on button too is a good size and easy to engage, unlike the eraser-sized buttons we've seen on other tools. When you first try this driver, don't think you got a lemon--even with the switch on and the motor running, you'll get no rotation until the bit's point contacts the screw head and you apply the forward pressure that engages the clutch. The belt clip is sturdy and retractable-a smart idea for getting into tight spots.
