Has to be the best angle grinder for the price.. came with four gnding wheels and a dimond cutoff wheel.. plenty of power!! lightweight and comfortable to use

I'm used to working tools hard and often being disappointed with the lack of durability.No fear the Makita 9557PBX is a work hoarse it doesn't get much more demanding than grinding granite. The hand grip is well placed and the trigger helps reduce hand fatigue overall the angle grinder lives up to the Makita Name.

This grinder is terrific. It replaces a grinder from HF that I paid $10 for. Needless to say it is much, much better. I do have two gripes, however; one is that it is advertised that the head of it rotates, but there are no instructions on how to do it in the manual or the Makita web site. Second, the wrench for putting on and taking off the wheels is awkward to position and doesn't pop into place very easily. On the good side, its easy to handle, fairly quiet, powerful enough, and the case is great. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the absense of instructions for an advertised feature.

I ordered this Makita to replace my Milwaukee which I found was very heavy and awkward to use.
I was surprised at the power and ease of handling the first time I used it. The fact that it comes
with 4- grinder discs, a diamond blade, the excellent case and a different shroud for using the
diamond blade plus a handle for a price that is unreal amazes me. Im a believer in Makita tools
and this should last for many years. Im disappointed in the fact that its made in China but have
to trust that Makita keeps a sharp eye on the QC end of it.

I was starting a block wall building project and needed something to cut the blocks with. Saw this and thought it could work. The price was great for what was provided grinder, disks and case for about what you would pay for the grinder alone. The smaller size made it easy to handle but did make some of the cuts more difficult. I used the cut-off blade primarily but the grinding wheels work fine as well. Bottom line it ended up being cheaper than rental equipment would have cost and I have a new tool for the work chest.

I bought this to replace my ailing snap-on grinder and I must say I am impressed. This thing is almost impossible to stall runs cool and has an awesome case that could be used for other things if desired mine came with 5 grinding discs and a diamond blade. It is beefy and has some weight to it so hopefully it will last 8 years or better like my snap on which still works great but will likely need brushes soon and when it does I will take it home for more usage.

Wow ordered it at noon PST and arrived the next day....works good .. miss the older all metal cases.

With the included diamond blade, this goes through 1/2" cement backerboard very smoothly. (Wear eye protection and a respirator and do it outside.) A masonry saw might have been a bit easier for the job because this doesn't have a bottom plate to rest against the material, but I've gotten good results just freehanding it.

Just got the grinder today. Beautiful case. Comes with five grinding wheels and diamond tipped cut off wheel. I had read somewhere that Makita products were made in the USA. That was one of the main reasons I purchased this tool. Turns out it was made in China. That is the only reason I gave it a four. I'm sure it is still a wonderful tool and look forward to using it.

Santa brought me this for xmas and so far I love it. Plenty of power and the paddle switch is a must. The quality of the case is excellent, nice and durable. I was impressed with the accessories, a nice assortment of wheels to get one started.
