5.0 out of 5 stars Just awesome
Doesn't quite feel like it has the same amount of power as the Milwaukee corded band-saws, but the portability is unmatched. I'm getting about 70 to 80 cuts per charge cutting unistrut so the battery life is pretty good. The whole tool feels extremely rugged and I expect it will last a long time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid tool... needs improvements
I bought this tool to cut 3" sch 40 galvanized pipe in the field. So far, it's worked fairly well.

My recommendation for improvements... Go to a brushless motor like they have for their top of the line drill and impact wrench. That will give you more cuts out of the battery... and, more importantly, will help the tool operate more efficiently for tougher...

I really dig makita tools and have almost exclusivly makita and milwaukee gear. I am a genuine tool junkie and if I dont have one you dont need it. I was amazed when I saw this thing and really bought it almost as a novelty,I mean this is real toolman bling bling. You dont have everything until you have a cordless powerhack..chuckle chuckle....but this buddie came and no sooner arived than I had uses for it. pipe..rebar..locks..angle iron... you name it, a lot of jobs I ordinarily grab a sawzall and a metal blade for can be done with a lot more finess with this saw and it seems to have plenty of power for long enough. The l.e.d light is a nice touch as well. I gotta give Makita 5 blings for coming up with this one....So after you have everything else....

5.0 out of 5 stars Makita Portable band saw, February 26, 2011

A high quality tool that has performed very well. It's very powerful and durable. I don't use it commercially but have used it several times doing projects at home. The warranty is great and Makita allows you to register your tools online where the info is accessible if ever needed. I own several cordless and powered tools. Makita's craftsmanship and quality are second to none. They are by far the best tools I own.

The best saw I ever owned for cutting strut, rigid emt, etc...Lasts a long time on 1 battery. Being portable is a definite plus.

Very good power tool, however, don't expect the same performance as its 110 volt counterpart. Well pleased with the quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great band saw, November 13, 2013

Great tool, makita quality and workmanship. Portability for a full size band saw is great. My only gripe, or wish really, is that makita would make a smaller version the way that milwaukee does. But other than that I love this battery operated saw. Im an electrician and couldnt imagine not having one.

Has done everything I need it to. Did not disappoint. Plenty of torque. Get bi-metal blades from the get go.

Kick a$$ tool to have in the collection, cuts Emt and all thread like butter with the Makita 18 Tpi blade. don't rely all day on the reciprocating saw to do you right, do the band saw with a straight cut with ease
