I bought this item to cut 75 pieces of 24gauge galv. steel sheet with 3foot of radius cuts per piece. Metal shop wanted about the price of the nibbler to setup and cut all the pieces. This tool cuts as fast as you can push it with clean cuts. So, I made all the cuts and still have the tool.....it makes sense.

I bought the Makita JS1600 Shear after watching a Ron Covell DVD. I wanted a fast and pain free way of cutting some large pieces of mild steel sheet metal into smaller pieces for storage. The JS1600 works great. The cut is accurate and fast. As additional information, the sheet metal to the right the cut is deflected downward but does not curl. I believe that this is good. The company described the protect accurately and it was delivered in a timely manner. I would order this product and choose this company again if provided the opportunity.

I have two of these shears. They work 10 hours a day cutting 24 gauge steel pieces for caskets since 5 years ago. I only change brushes and minor parts.
