I am very displeased with my Makita LS1011. I haven't been able to cut accurately since I've had it. If you get it to cut accurately at a 90 degree angle, it will not cut accurately at a 45 degree angle. I have heard about changing to different blades. I have tried two of Freud teflon coated 80 tooth cross-cut blades. I gave it a 2-star rating because I like the looks of the saw. It looks good, cuts bad. It could use a different type of adjustment for aligning the blade with the fence. It should be a screw type of alignment instead of the four hard to get to bolts. When you tighten the bolts back down after aligning the fence, the fence might move out of adjustment. The vertical adjustment of the blade is a good example of how it should be for the fence. If I could, I would give the saw back to Mikita.

REVIEWERS OF THIS SAW THAT BOUGHT IT THREE OR MORE YEARS AGO ARE JUDGING THE OLD SAW, NOT THE NEW ONE. BEWARE, THIS IS A GREAT SAW.

I purchased my LS1011 when they first hit the market over ten years ago. I have done a lot with it but it is not a precision machine. I have always been annoyed by play in the slide mechanism which results in cutting angle errors when blade torque and bite take over the cut - even with the sharpest blade. I have learned to correct for this when setting up the cut, but it is a pain. The hold down clamp is unusable on the right fence as it interferes with the motor. (Why did they put a mounting hole for the clamp on that side?). Like all of my Makita tools it has a VERY loud motor and ear protestion is advised. The bevel tilt lever mechanism is of the "trial and error" design. It is relatively light-weight and easy to transport but I think the Hitachi C10FS is 10 times the saw for the price Makita is asking for this one.

I hesitated buying this saw mainly because it was reconditioned and was built around a single slide. However, after using it for a couple of weeks, the concerns were unfounded. It produced accurate miters and bevels right out of the box. All of the cuts were measured with a digital protractor and at this point, the saw has produced very smooth and accurate cuts. This saw replaced a nine-year-old 10-inch standard miter saw. After this experience. I would definitely consider other reconditioned tools.

I bought the LS 1011 several weeks ago from Amazon. Even though I read the negative reports from those who bought theirs 10 years ago and found them to be inaccurate. I looked over the field, going to many dealers before I decided on the 1011. My main objective was to get a saw that was light enough to lug around, the 1011 met that challenge, weighing in at 35 pounds. No other saw I could find came close. It is a great performer, not very loud, good H.P. and easy to use. I did buy a stand for it which is a great safety item and adds to the fuctionality. I really love the saw, wouldn't trade it for anything, I give it 5 stars.

I purchased this model about 9 years ago. It has been an alright saw but not very accurate. I also have a hard time reading and setting the blade tilt gauge. It's also very loud. That doesn't bother me too much but everytime my dog (who resides in my shop) sees me walking toward it he leaves - in a hurry. I do like the light weight however. I still believe in Makita products and would be willing to purchase one of their newer models.

I bought my ls1011 in 1994 and have used it almost daily since. Along with my portaplane I value it as indispensable to finish work. It is versatile and most importantly, light. A tough, reliable tool. However did I manage without it?
Downside; The bushing rings between the table and base are a constant problem, wearing out very quickly with daily use. Also I have noticed time and again that even with a brand new 60 tooth Marathon blade, on a 45 degree compound cut the blade seems to "bend" slightly, even through soft woods. A problem with the blade or arm stability?
All things considered, I'm ready to buy another.

I'm a part time carpenter whose built a few houses and used several brands of miter saws. Bought this one on recommendation of trim carpenter pal and couldn't be happier. Wife and some friends helped me build a backyard deck this past weekend and all raved about the saw. Soft start feature was a big hit and the controls are easy to figure out to anyone familiar with a miter saw. Big work surface is great as big as most 12" miters.
We used a lot of 45 degree miter cuts on railings and benches and it cut 4x4s and 2x6 with ease also easily handled some complex compound miters where the bench backs joined. Am now actually looking forward to a crown molding project this fall. Although I bought this for my own use, the saw is well built so I wouldn't have any reservations about taking it to a job site.

This mitre saw has made all my home improvement & wood projects so much easier. There's nothing worse than needing a 45 degree angle and having to use a mitre box. It's tedious and it takes so much time. This mitre saw is great. I really the the D shaped handle, it makes using the saw so much easier. The dust bag doesn't really collect much sawdust but that's not too much of a big deal for me. If you're looking for an inexpensive mitre saw, this one is the one you want!
