A solid workhorse,
By Michael J Edelman (Huntington Woods, MI USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Makita LS1030N 10-Inch Miter Saw Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought mine battered and used five years ago, and after a lot of use it's still making accurate cuts for me and everyone who borrows it. Not everyone needs a $500 compound miter saw! This saw is a solid workhorse for the tradesman, and a reasonably priced tool for the homeowner.

Great saw,

I am in the hardwood flooring business, and use this saw every day. It's got plenty of power, and is unbelievably light. It's the work-horse of my tool collection, cutting off every end of every row of oak that I install. I bought a slide compound for installing bullnosing around stair openings, because this just doesn't have the capacity, but it gets plenty of use on intricate work. You can't go wrong with this saw.( Just buy a decent thin-kerf blade!! )

I've been a carpenter for over 30 years learning trim with a miter box and back saw. I've used nearly every miter saw, and the 1030n is the best. The fence is tall enough for medium crown (4 1/4)and the fence slot is close enough that small pieces are not blown out on the floor. If you do this for a living this is it...less than 25 lbs, and has a top handle. Easy to carry on the job from floor to floor, but what a work horse. No tool does it all, for what it does do it is in a field all by itself. Accuracy is perfect out of the box no adjustment necessary. It is smooth and flawless.Complaint: It is not made in the USA. I buy only American made unless I have no choice. Listen Makita had it not had the good feel I would have looked elsewhere.I have nothing against other people, but I have too many friends out of work to justify buying foreign. To you out of work I am sorry.
