Over-priced and useless,
By A Customer
This review is from: Makita ML702 7.2-Volt Pivoting Head Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
Even though this product is advertised on Amazon's site as a "7.2-Volt Rechargeable Flashlight" with a "7.2-volt DC battery", it does NOT come with a recharger nor with a battery!!! It's merely an empty plastic shell with a bulb -- for (...)!!

I worked servicing heating and air cond. units for 17 years and I found this flashlight invaluable. The pivioting head made it great for lighting up the insides of heat exchangers to inspect them for cracks. The last time I used mine I left it somewhere and I have not been able to find it so I ordered and received a new one to have around because it is so handy. Since this uses the same battery as one of my Makita drills I always have a battery handy and if I don't have a charged battery it just takes about an hour in either the 120 volt charger or the 12 volt car charger to recharge it. I think it is priced a little high but you're paying for the Makita name.

THIS IS MY 3RD MAKITA FLASH LIGHT IN 25 YEARS.I USE IT EVERY DAY AND AND IT TAKES A GOOD AMOUNT OF ABUSE.THE PIVOTING HEAD WORKS GREAT UNDER A DASH OR UNDER A VEHICLE.I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL BATTERY AND CHARGER AND FIGURED HOW CAN I GO WRONG FOR 30 BUCKS.THE ONLY REASON I HAD TO REPLACE IT IS BECAUSE I HAVE DROPPED IT SO MANY TIMES.MAKITA MAKES A VERY GOOD PRODUCT AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

I broke my old 1990 flashlight and needed a replacement. This flashlight does just fine and is inexpensive. The pivoting head moves one notch lower than the older model so it can stand on the table to have light downwards on what you're working on. It's a nice product and seems sturdy. I'm happy with the purchase.

This light has been in our family for 20 years. The last one broke about a year ago and I just found it on amazon to replace it. Makita makes amazing tools.

I was a mechanic for over 20 years. This light was my primary means of seeing intricate problems with vehicles. I has a well focused beam and the body of the light is relatively compact ( much more so than the 9.6V by Makita). I emits a normal white light unlike alot of newer LED lights that cast a bluish light so you can easliy see what you are trying to look for especially if you are tracing out wiring colors. I have always had 2 of these lights so I have one as a backup. Today after nearly 8 years of abuse my primary light has failed amd I am now using what was my backup, and purchasing another for standby. This light has withstood minor dropping, harsh chemicals, extreme temperatures and still lasted 8 years. In that time I might have replaced the bulb 5 times only with Makita bulbs (for some reason they last longer that the ones from the hardware store, which I discovered long ago). A great tool.

Great Flashlight!,

The tilting head on this flashlight makes it the one I use on the job.
I recharge it and use it all the time. I do have two batteries and make sure both are charged before starting a job. |
