I bought this set up from Makita. It looked very good and with some nice features. It comes with a storage bag with several pockets. I like the hard platic type myself. It is made in China. Comes with 2 dust collection plates. Also 1 extra handle to use on the plunge base or the off set base plate. Router is not very easy to make a fine adjustment on with the rack and pin though. The Bosch Colt and the DeWalt 611 is much better for the adjustment. Makita plunge base lock lever is to short also. The DeWalt is perfect to me. When I recieved it I checked each base for any problems. Well sorry to say I had 3 problems. The tilt base rocked on my jointer. The metal plate was not formed right. Next problem was with the plunge base. It also rocked. Plastic base was warped. Next problem was the offset base. It also rocked.Plastic was warped where the metal part of the base mounts to the plastic bottom base. Router is nice, easy to swap from 1 base to another. All base plates will inter change to the other bases. It comes with a 1/4" and a 3/8th" collet. A 8MM collet would have been nice. Both are short in length. Only 1 nut though. Wrench is the cheap thin stamped steel type. Makita would not just send me the 3 parts to fix this routers defective parts. Had to send the whole set back. Had order another unit but would take 14 days to get it. Called seller back and just cancelled the whole thing.Maybe Bosch's plunge base will be good, coming out this summer.

5 stars. The speed and horsepower are all pretty similar in across the other small routers but the settings are what sold me on the Makita. The DeWalt has a screw-top setting that looks like some sort of coffee grinder and I figured with a router you have to have better adjustment ability, and the Makita has rack and pinion and it's been awesome. Very easy to quickly adjust and get it right the first time so you can get back to work. If you get this router, definitely get the kit with the 4 bases.

Makita calls this router a trimmer. Nothing cold be further from the truth! It is a powerful machine with enough included bases to ensure you can easily handle any project you can think of.lunge base works flawlessly, the offset base allows you to finish an edge clear up to a corner, the fixed base is really all you need to use this magnificent machine. It is easily adjusted with an accurate scale for gauging just how much your bit will protrude. And finally, the angled base is something I never even thought about, but it adds a new dimension to your router repertoire. The soft case, something I am not normally enamored with, is a very useful, well thought out accessory. It has storage for all the included bases and accessories plus room for router bits to be stored that is easily accessible.

I needed an offset laminate trimmer to do a project, so I originally was just going to buy the Porter Cable tried and true trimmer with offset base. But I came across this kit from Makita with their new "compact router". Given the variety of bases, and a tad bit more power then a typical laminate trimmer, I figured buying this I would find many more uses for it then just buying the Porter Cable.

I received it yesterday and after unpacking it I was very excited to give it a try, I attached the offset base and a few test passes on a peice of plywood, then did the job I bought it for. Flawless and easy.

After that I was eager to play with the other bases and a variety of by bits. About 5 hours strait of routing later, I had a feel for the tool and I was impressed. I pushed the tool pretty much to its limit and while this has far less power then my full sized routers, its very impressive for a laminate trimmer, I can easily see using this with the plunge base on a lot of projects i would normally dig my full sized router out for.

On the standard trimmer base, I really like the worm gear depth adjustment, super easy and I had no problem getting accurate depths.

The angle base is pretty strait forward. I do wish the angle gauge was large and easier to read with more detailed increments, this is only a minor complaint.

The offset base, which I originally bought this for, works exactly as it should. I do wish you could adjust depth on it, but i am not sure anyone makes an offset base where this is possible, so I wont hold it against Makita.

Small but powerful. Well designed. Bases are excellent and contribute to being able to do more than with a standard router. BUT there is no provision for PC bushings the industry standard. Kit packs well in included soft case. Easy to handle and work with for long periods. Overall a very good router.

As an occasional hobbyist woodworker but a semi-compulsive tool collector, the lack of a router was holding up progress on an important project around my new rental. I wanted a router, but wasn't looking forward to making the investment in research time, money and shop space in my limited garage. I have owned a Makita portable table saw for a long time, and I noticed what appeared to be a router mounting location on the platform of the saw. I came across the RT0700 by accident in the local big box and thought it might be a good solution. Ran home and did some online research and learned about this combo version, which includes the basic router motor unit and several rigs to mount it different ways. I ordered it and received it quickly with no problems.

I am very pleased with my purchase. The combination of accessories in in the CX3 package is very helpful, and I've used two of them in my very first jobs. The carrying bag is very helpful for keeping track of all the parts and storing the whole set in a compact shop. Happy surprise: the dust collection systems included mate perfectly with my shop vac system. Unfortunately the router won't mount directly on the saw table, but I may be able to do some modifications which will permit it in the future.

This is not a high-powered unit, and I will be careful not to over stress it with deep cuts and rapid feeds, but for the laminate trimming and light wood cleanup I needed to do, it is just what I wanted.
