The set is pretty much ok, with one major complaint: The "star drive" bit that comes with the set is a T-20. I think most everyone knows that most wood type screws are made for the T-25 star drive bit. The T-20 bit is useless to me.

This is a small, basic set of the most commonly used sizes of drivers. The drivers themselves seem fine - they seem to be made of a nice hard steel, and I haven't had any trouble with unusual wear. But the clamshell case is very disappointing - its just cheap plastic that folds over, with a flimsy strip of plastic acting as the hinge. After being opened and closed a few times, the plastic hinge already seems to getting stressed; I fear that it will wear out and break long before the drivers inside do. The snap closure is not particularly secure either. (Incidentally, if anyone cares, although the picture on Amazon makes it look like the case is black, the outside of it is actually the typical Makita turquoise color, with a black interior.)
To me, the case is a very important part of a set of drill or driver bits. I have owned sets before in flimsy cases like this, and found it very frustrating when the case itself broke before the bits did, leaving me with the choice of either trying to organize the bits some other way, or having to buy a new set because of the case. Other companies selling similar driver sets (Milwaukee, De Walt, Irwin, etc.) put them in a case made of a heavier gauge of plastic, with a sturdier hinge. I expected better from Makita. I like Makita's drills, but I think for the bits and drivers, another company may be a better choice.

Good but not Great,

Makita is a solid brand which I use professionally on a daily basis. It was time to upgrade my bits and organize them and this kit came up. I like the compact organization of the various bits.
I DO NOT like how CHEAP the case is. The latch is just cheap, soft plastic that will eventually break and you will be left with an open case. It will not last very long. The DeWalt impact driver bits are supposed to be superior to these. Sometimes the cheapest option turns out to be the most expensive one.

Bits are OK, case is crap. As others have written, the case and bit holders are so poor that ALL of the bit holder glue failed and all bits fell out as soon as the packaging was removed. Only option is to carry them in your pockets or tool bag and hope they are not lost. Difficult to believe MAKITA put their name on this.

I care about one thing when it comes to impact bits, how many screws can I drive before the bit twists. With these I have driven at least 200 with virtually no damage to the bit. That covers the cost. No offense to some of the low ratings given, but I think they are nitpicking. The bits are awesome and the cost is very reasonable.

Bought this to use with my Dewalt DC827 impact driver as it was well priced. This is a good kit, the bits last well, in fact I have still to wear out a single robertson #2 from this set in medium use (I use this mainly to fit shelving, so typical use is driving 2.5" screws through drywall into studs), so not really construction worker use, but probably as heavy as a keen DIY user would be.
The sockets are magnetized which is a nice feature, although I did find them a tad shallow for my liking. I don't normally use the extender provided and just stick the bits directly into the impact driver as every joint in the impact path lessens the effect (my theory anyway). Good set, well priced and so far no unexpected quality problems. Just a heads up you do need to squirt some wd-40 on these from time to time, else they rust...

I was excited when I received this set and had a project to complete the next day. The project required about 40 or so 2.5" screws that needed to be set. About 5 screws in one of the impact drill bits tore apart. So I took out another thinking the bit may not have been the best fit in the screw. The second bit made it about 10 more screws then started to strip apart.
I ran to home depot and bought dewalt impact bits and haven't had one strip apart on me yet and I have set countless screws since. Luckily this set was easy to return and I received a full refund.

This bit set was purchased to go along with my new Li-ion drill set from Makita. I have been a long time fan of Makita's quality. This set however does nothing for the name printed on the cover. First thing I noticed was the case itself was as cheap as you could make one; not even staying closed. Also, of the four rows of bits, only two were connected. Therefore when you do open the case, half of your bits fall out! The bit extention itself broke the second time I used it. My wife used the #2 philips bits to remove drywall screws from some forms we had made and broke all but one them! Very disappointed in the quality of this "Makita" product.

The bits age good I like the selections. It it very useful for odd jobs around the house, it even came in handy when i was working on my motorcycle. I like that there is a magnet inside which work great for small screws in tight quarters. The quality is good for the price its not top notch so if you are a contractor these bits will break if used constantly. Overall its a good buy will buy these again
