I have used this trimmer about 4 times now. Twice to do some major trimming of bamboo. My last trimmer, a Black & Decker model, did not have the power to cut bamboo. The Makita is not only a lot more powerful but it is much quieter too. It is also heavier but I don't really notice the extra weight when I am actully using it.
Overall, I am quite happy with this trimmer and would not hesitate to recommend it.

This is a great product. I've read reviews that complained about the dual safety handles. Not a problem. These "dead man" switches span the entire length of the handle of which they are a part. Very easy to use. I only wish they had a 30" model!

Well constructed trimmer and perfect size. It is a little heavy if you plan on hours of trimming, but hey it is a solid well-built machine. Cuts quickly and accurately. The dead man switch is no problem in my opinion - I got used to this safety feature after about 2 minutes. I would recommend this trimmer.

Very pleased with this hedge trimmer. Lots of power and overall, very quiet. Well made. Much better than gas for home garden use.

I love my new Makita hedge trimmer. It is fast, cuts almost everything and easy to handle. Couldn't be better.

Other trimmers I have had would stall if the limb was bigger than my thumb. Anything that fits between the guards is cut with this thing.

I bought his trimmer because it was rated as 'commercial grade'. This is a joke. I used it for about one half hour cutting some vines. About this time it was constantly cutting off and on. Probably it sensed it was overheating. These vines were small with the largest maybe one quarter inch in size. I became so frustrated I threw the thing down on the ground and later threw it in the trash can. I will buy another trimmer from a local power tool dealer where I can purchase a real commercial grade product. I previously had a Sears model that was made in the UK. I used for many years and it worked great. Never stopping and starting during use.

I am a 47 year old woman (in decent shape) and I find this trimmer extremely difficult to use. It is too heavy! It will cost you an arm and a leg to purchase it and then it will cost you an arm to use it (my arm fell off after 15 minutes of use--hee, hee).

I've used it once. It got extremely hot on the flat bottom surface of the motor section. It didn't fail? But I am a little uneasy about the whole heat thing on an electric motor. It did cut well though.
