5.0 out of 5 stars Traditional and Today really do mix for Red Thunder
This was the very first Native American CD I purchased online without ever hearing about the group. This compilation of traditional speaking and singing with Rock sounds and lyrics is the best! You can't help but get caught up in the music. The CD leaves you wanting more from this wonderfully talented group of young American Indian men. The words are haunting and...

1.0 out of 5 stars LAME.... .000000000000000009 stars
totally weak and unoriginal. not to mention outright boring. the songs on this album sound like they were all made in an hour or less. this cd deserves to be used as a coaster. it's not even worth the price it took to make by far. well, i've spent to much time on this already as it could be descibed in 1 word(lame). Don't waste your hard earned money. You'll thank me a...

You can't help but get caught up in the music. The CD leaves you wanting more from this wonderfully talented group of young American Indian men. The words are haunting and spell bounding. 5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare for a journey, April 14, 2000
This review is from: Makoce Wakan (Audio CD)
This CD reaches out and grabs your soul. Anyone who cannot acknowledge this message has a heart of stone - but the music can break through even that.

So begins the journey.

I cannot understand how this group has been in the shadows for so long. Red Thunder's music combines contemporary rock with wonderful interludes of Native American sounds. Even within the "rock" one can hear the Native instruments and rythymn.

The lyrics cannot be denied; they are well versed, powerful, and appropriately set. While a call is made for "revolution", another is made for change with "courage and prayer." In a world filled with violence - with our children killing each other in schools - this message is one ALL need to hear. For it is not a message of aggression but to end the apathy. ....

If I call this CD inspirational - I'm selling it short. If I call it commercially dynamic - I catering to the almighty dollar.

So, I will call it what it is - a great piece of music that anyone will enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD has and will be an inspiration to me., November 30, 1998

This review is from: Makoce Wakan (Audio CD)
This CD was purchased during the time I was deep into researching my Indian heritage. I seen the video of "Red Thunder" while watching a T.V. show with my two younger children. Once I seen the video, I knew I needed to find the CD for my very own. I asked my girlfriend in Colorado where and who are these people. And had she ever heard of them. Her answer was yes and they would be playing for a benefit for the "N.A.T.I.V.E.S." program that she had started. The program supports the Native peoples right to practice their traditional beliefs. This CD I feel does the very same. I truly would like to hear more from the group at some point. Their music is not only soothing but touches places that sometimes go untouched for many reasons. Looking forward to hearing more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful-Red Thunder not only Rocks they also Soar!, May 8, 2000
This review is from: Makoce Wakan (Audio CD)
I have owned this tape for two years now, and have played it to death, so I am getting another....you will never tire of Red Thunders driving rhythms, and soul stirring ballads...This group is in tune with the Earth, their culture, and modern society, proving that culture and change can not only blend and merge in many areas. Their music flies high above other music of this genre! Kudos to red Thunder for their strong support of NA causes, and music that drives the spirit back to a time when all that mattered was sun, wind, sky, the land, and The People!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeping with tradition in the world today, June 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Makoce Wakan (Audio CD)
An excellent CD which blends First Nation tradition with contemporary style. It provides insight into customs and traditions which have long been misunderstood and misrepresented.

It is commendable that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the protection of the sacred lands.

I first heard Red Thunder with my grandchildren on PBS. It was the most beautiful, spiritual music I had heard in a long time. I fell in love with their music and I pray to CREATOR that they will continue to grow in their songs. I am getting this CD for a grandson who has heard my CD, and has a birthday coming up in two weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Thunder has a wonderful music blend..peaceful yet moving, August 22, 1999

I have listened to this CD at least once everyday since purchasing it. I feel it has just enough beat to move the body and just enough sincerity to move the heart. I hope that Red Thunder will continue to produce music, possibly under difficult conditions, for the People who live in both worlds. Does anyone know if or when Red Thunder will perform for an audience? I would love to take my family to see them.

These songs are truly beautiful. This is a CD that I listen to over and over. It's a seamless blend of Native American and Rock that works on every level. These guys deserve a whole lot more attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars When I need a lift, I listen to Red Thunder. It's great!, August 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Makoce Wakan (Audio CD)
I've looked and looked for more of Red Thunder, and am disappointed there isn't more. But the one CD I have is almost worn out because I've listened to it so much. When I travel, I play it over and over. The drum, lute, and words of the songs really give me a lift when I feel "down" or when I'm "up". The music speaks to my soul and my Cherokee blood.
