Looks cute but not worth it,

Like any first time mom I wanted the perfect nursey complete with a matching mobile. The Malawi mobile was a gift and looked so cute, pulled the whole nursery togteher. Then my son was born. This mobile kept his interest, but only for a few minutes. I read reviews from other mommys about how short the mobile runs for but didn't think it really mattered. Boy was I wrong. One day my little guy was fussy, I put him in his crib and started the mobile, he looked at it and loved it, what he didn't love was mommy coming in every 3 minutes to start it up again. The very next day I was at Babies R Us buying a new mobile, one that requires batteries but runs for 15 minutes and has a remote control to restart it when necessary. Even better the new mobile has different attachments to keep my little guys interest for months to come and actually pauses every few seconds to help baby focus. Now yes, it is not as cute and doesn't match but my little guy loves it. I highly suggest new mommys out there look at other mobiles. I never even knew there were mobiles other then the ones sold with the bedding sets. Trust me, take a few minutes while you register and go look at them in the toy department, the new mobile was actually less money and can also be used as a music box that can remain attached to the crib once the mobile is taken down. Something to consider for you new mommys out there.

Don't waste your money, you will spend your time standing there waiting for this to stop so you can wind it up again. The music only lasts a minute or less.

I'm a first time mommy-to-be and fell in love with the Malawi set. Of course, I had to have everything that went along with it. Upon setting it up (and throwing all packaging away), we found that the mobile didn't work well with the crib we bought. Ours has a sloped shape end and the mobile will only fit on either side, not in the middle where I wanted it. I worry that when our little boy joins us he'll get a kink in his neck from looking to the side to see the mobile. I anticipate taking it down & looking for something that fits better and am disappointed because it looks so cute and also because we'll lose $39.99 since I threw the packaging away. A lesson learned on throwing the packaging away....... Hope this helps!

My 5 month old daughter loves this mobile. When she was little she liked the music. Now she likes watching the animals. Lots of times when I come into her room in the morning or after a nap, she'll just be laying there watching them. The music is a little short, but I found that after a couple months of regular use, I think it has loosened up a bit and I can now wind it to play a bit longer. We also had no problem fitting this onto our crib. And its just so cute!

ideas for crib fit , length of use and length of song,
By A Customer

THREE THINGS moms need to keep in mind with mobiles: # 1, A LOT of mobiles do not safely fit rounded crib edges. Just put a hook in the ceiling, and hang mobile from coordinating ribbon, (hang from the wind up part, toss the arm!) and adjust the ribbon shorter as baby grows to keep mobile out of reach, add a bow at the top to cover the hook if you want. #2, length of song increases with use, as wind up mechanism loosens, in my experience. #3, my son is 30mths old, and he still loves his mobile, because he is very musically oriented and the music is engrained in his bedtime routine, so do not dismiss a mobile due to child's age. Since it hangs from ceiling, its no danger!

We live on Maui, so our selection of baby bedding was somewhat limited. Scouring online websites with seeminly hundreds of sets led us to this one. It is so adorable! We are truly happy with it. However, regarding the mobile: its only downside is that the song it plays is sooooo short!! Granted we haven't set up the new crib yet, so I'm not sure how the stabilization factor will fair, as I read was a complaint from another reviewer. Anyway, other than the brevity of the song, it is nice to look at!

Cute but doesn't last long,

This is a cute mobile and it is nice when it running. The problem is, it only plays one song and lasts about 3 minutes. I would recommend find another mobile that plays music long and with more of a variety.

The music does not last long,
By

This would be a great mobile if the music last longer. The song only plays approximately 3-5 minutes. Before I can even sit down good and attempt to do something, anything, (fold laundry perhaps) the mobile has already stopped. My son does like the mobile, however he becomes quite irritable when it stops so suddenly. What good is this product if the music doesn't play long enough to soothe your child? I've seen some other reviews on other mobiles that I am about to purchase, perhaps the one with the remote that last for 20-30 minutes, now THAT makes sense! If the mobile were not a gift this is something I would NOT have purchased!

Aesthetically pleasing, but poorly put together,

Again, this is becoming a common title for this Kids Line theme. Beautiful products, but not put together well. In this case, our mobile came unassembled, then we had to tie on each animal with about 1/8' piece of ribbon. My wife purchased more ribbon to make it work. A nice piece, but if we had it to do over again, we would've just gotten one of those aquariums that attach to the crib.

Cute... but BIG,

I purchased the mobile but ended up selling it on Ebay... it is too big for the crib, it hung down so low that my son could pull on it and bring it down on top of him. It is cute, but I found a jungle mobile that was smaller and matched really nice with the set...
