When I bought a pair of these about 5 years ago, I hesitated at the price. I had been wearing out the standard snips ($12-18) available at the big box and hardware stores, in a year or so. I wanted something better. At the time these Malco's were $30+, but I tried them anyway.
End of story is: I will only buy these malco max2000 av snips anymore. They are sharp, they cut better, easier and whoa, do they last longer. I think they are a little larger in size but are still able to maneuver tight turns, the handle lock works well, I do some cutting of stainless steel also with these. Also, I'm not sure why, but these snips will start a cut at a very slight angle to an edge in light gauge sheet metal, rather than roll the edge over and not initiate a cut like cheaper snips. Great snips.

These snips are excellent for all kinds of sheet metal. Since we do air duct cleaning, we need good snips that last a long time. I have had my pair personally since 2004 and they are still as sharp as the day I got them. We have tried all other brands such as Wiss and Midwest, but none compare to the Malco's!

I have been working for a seamless gutter company, full time, for the past 2 years. We do a lot of cutting of steel and aluminum along with angled mitre cuts through gutter. I have used other brands (Irwin, Wiss, ect.) because of the cost of snips. Because of the heavy use I put into them, I want the best snip that causes the least amount of stress to my hands. My conclusion, Malco snips offer that performance I demand because I am concerned about my body's longevity. If you are a professional that works around sheet metal daily then don't waste you time and money with other snips.

i read the manufacturer review of this product and bought it based on that. these snips are ok...the handle lock comes loose and sometimes it takes an extra moment or two to get it back in place. the blades are not any better than the wiss snips i usually buy at half the price. these snips are good, but are over priced for what you get

I've used about every type of shears on the market (Wiss, Midwest, el cheapos, etc), and Malco's are still my favorite. They have a nice finish and stay sharp if you don't use them beyond their capacity (or try to cut concrete or something stupid). Get the matching green rights and you'll be set for whatever sheet metal cutting you need to do!

They seem to be working great rite now as of new. Wel see once its been a year or so, I use them almost on the daily in HVAC. A lot of the guys I work with knock em because they've never seen snips by malco but whatever. Also they are a tad bit and I mean a tad bit wider and bigger than lets say midwest or wiss.

Very well made. Heavy and sharp. I cannot tell but I am guessing the metal is harder than most so I think the blades won't have to be sharpened too often. The handle covers are also very sturdy - don't expect them to crack or hold stains. I like this, the spring is heavy and the latch is sturdy.
