This is almost a "got to have" tool for your vinyl siding job. It forms locking tabs on partial pieces of siding that have to be modified to fit areas on the house where a full piece is just too wide. Used with utility trim it forms a good positive lock.

THe Malco punch performs well. It has a nice grip to it and a sturdy feel in your hand. It was at a price well below the big box home improveent stores.

This tool works very well for locking vinyl siding into vinyl edging when the top edge of the vinyl has to be cut off, cutting off the nailing holes. The tool makes little tabs along the length of the siding that lock into the trim pieces, holding the siding in place.

If you are a do-it-your-selfer, this tool will get the job done. There is no need to buy the more expensive version. All you are doing is punching holes in vinyl, and thats what it does. I suppose the only improvement to this tool would be somthing to hold it together for storage (so that it not always in an open position). But a rubber band works fine for that too.

I ordered the Snap lock Punch as it puts a little tab near the bottom of a skirting on a Mobile Home or Park Model that helps prevent the shirting coming loose or the wind blowing a direct hit and detaching the skirting from the sill piece. You must put pressure on the lower panel to take out the panel. the tool just saves some work later because of wind, critter, or something pushing against the skirting to dislodge.

Simple tool that worked as it should. I used this when replacing siding that had blown off in a storm, probably because the pro installer never put locking tabs in when the siding was originally installed. One hint for users; if the temperature is low (near freezing) the siding will be brittle and you'll end up with the tabs snapping off leaving an oblong hole. Warm up the vinyl a bit and the tool works fine.

This tool works as well as any other snap lock punch that I have used. It's a fairly simple tool so there is no point in spending a lot money on one. Just as with any snap lock punch pliers, it helps if the siding is warm or has been in the sun. This cuts down on the amount of times that the '"flap" breaks off rather than just bending outward because the material is less brittle.

This tool is suppose to dimple the siding if the nail fin had to be removed. However, tool should have a stop on it so it will not blast a hole right through the siding product. I installed my own stop to control the depth of the punch so it works, but poorly. For a proper siding job, you still need this tool or something better.
