5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool For Removal AND Installing Siding
I just got mine and it's already one of my favorite siding tools. It's designed for removal of vinyl siding, which it does a great job of, but I was equally impressed with how well it can help to install siding. As far as removal goes, slip it on the end of the siding and give a little tug, and your siding is loose. For pieces that go into J channel around windows and...

3.0 out of 5 stars not needed
While handy in a pinch, this tool is not needed if you are putting up new siding. That is what I was doing, and didn't need it once. I suppose that if you were repairing some siding, it may come in handy. I guess I will see down the line if that ever turns out to be the case. So if you want to spend the cash for this tool, the only downside would be that it will sit in...

I just got mine and it's already one of my favorite siding tools. It's designed for removal of vinyl siding, which it does a great job of, but I was equally impressed with how well it can help to install siding. As far as removal goes, slip it on the end of the siding and give a little tug, and your siding is loose. For pieces that go into J channel around windows and installing narrow pieces this tool works great for installing. It helps tug the pieces just right in order for them to snap together properly. For anyone who does siding, this tool is a must have tool

5.0 out of 5 stars Do You NEED A Review ,To Decide If You Want This Tool???, August 31, 2005
This review is from: Malco SRT2 Straight Handled Siding Removal Tool (Tools & Home Improvement)
Hey Man, If you need this tool, nothing else is going to work. As far as an actual review, well, it's better than the previous model. The handle covering kept slipping off of the old one. The way this new one is made, I believe it would be virtually impossible for this handle cover to slip off. This gives you more opportunity to put some power behind your pull and rip siding off at a much faster rate. A "Must Have" tool. I've also found that if I have it on me all the time(in the toolbelt pocket),there are thousands of uses for this tool. Just like my 5-in-1 painters tool, I keep it with me and use it daily.

For closing up that last seam in a vinyl siding repair, this is the greatest--and don't forget to mark the top of each course as you take the old down.

These tools are invaluable when doing a vinyl siding repair or replacing windows or doors on a vinyl-sided house. It works well to pop the siding loose and to re-hook the bottom edge during re-installation.

Worked like a charm for a small repair job and a duct/vent installation where I needed to remove some panels. The jobs would have been much more difficult without it. I don't have much experience with vinyl siding but I had no problem unlocking the panels with this little gizmo. I like that the handle is bright red too which will help when I need to find it again after not needing it for five years.
