Amazon.com Review

Men's Health magazine has created a publishing phenomenon out of what could be described as the Four Ps: penis, pump, prostate, potbelly. Almost every article in every issue of the magazine has something to do with preventing heart attack, preventing prostate cancer, preventing impotence, or reversing waistline bulges. This Owner's Manual mercifully strays beyond those four topics, to offer advice on how men can wear makeup, deal with "bashful bladder syndrome" and male breast cancer, and reverse circumcision. There's also a lot of perfectly useful information about how the body works and how to make it work better, but the esoterica is a lot more fun to read. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From Publishers Weekly

Described in the introduction as a health book for men written "like an owner's manual for a car or computer," this valuable compilation is, however, no mere technical primer. The authors, who are Rodale writers, use the best elements from Men's Health magazine-including straight-shooting descriptions, a wry sense of humor and a high estimation of their audience's intelligence-to cover physiological systems (body as "machine"), body parts (an alphabetically arranged maintenance guide) and fitness. The first section, "Maximizing Your Machine," is a well-written guide to health topics including body shape, energy, stress, sex, sports injuries and sleep. The fitness guide suggests exercises for basic muscle groups. The heart of this volume beats in the 300-plus pages on "Body Maintenance," covering more than 95 separate parts of the male body machine. Illustrated alphabetical entries (from the Achilles tendon to wrists) fulfill its authors' intention to show men "how to use your machine properly; how to maintain it; how to troubleshoot problems." The volume offers at least two helpful hints per page and prose that's a pleasure to read. When was the last time you could say that about a transmission repair manual?

Impressed. I even bought a copy for my boys. I like the way they take a part of the anatomy and detail it. Great tips on staying healthy and excellent talk of preventing future problems. BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every man should read this book, October 9, 2007
I bought this book as a gift for a young man and found myself reading different sections, starting with the penis section and continuing backwards thru pancreas and nose, then to the moles and later the workout section. I found it to be informative and useful, but written casually enough to hold the 22 year old's interest. So many men are so uniformed about the functioning of their bodies. This book cracks the myths and sets straight the rumors about many areas of a man's heatlth.
Worth it's weight in gold.... buy it. Incidently, I couldn't find the parts mentioned by the one star reveiw.
