I highly recommend using a bedwetting alarm, to help your children acheive having dry nights faster.

Both of my kids had a hard time staying dry through the night. I tried waking them up to use the bathroom, and that didn't help a whole lot.

Luckily, I learned about the Malem alarm and it worked like a charm, and now they're both able to sleep through the night without having any accidents.

I do think this is way over priced, which is why I docked a star from the rating.

The good/bad thing is the alarm is VERY, VERY loud! Even though my room's down the hall, I was jolted out of bed every time it went off. Which was a good thing, since it allowed me to get to them, walk them to the bathroom, then reset the alarm again.

The only other drawback was the alarm was sometimes difficult to turn off, especially when you're still half asleep and you're fumbling around with it. So many times, my poor kids would be plugging their ears (the speaker pins onto their shirt, near their collar) as I frantically tried turning the blasted alarm off.

But, for the most part, I was very satisfied with this product and now my kids are 4 and 7 and neither of them have had a wet night in well over a year.

We purchased this alarm after my 5 1/2yo son became upset that his younger sister was dry at night. So even though his pediatrician told us not to worry about it until he was 6, we felt he was motivated enough now. The product itself is really easy to use and functioned exactly as it was supposed to. My son never complained about it being uncomfortable and was actually excited to use it. The alarm is really loud and woke up my son and myself. This caused me to be tired for a couple of weeks since I had to wake up from a dead sleep and run to his room to turn the sound off before it woke up my other 2 children. This was the case for about a week. After this the frequency of wetting started to decrease as well as the amount of wetness. We used underwear underneath a pull-up so we didn't have to change the sheets. Pretty soon he was getting up on his own in the middle of the night to use the restroom. He accomplished this in 6 weeks. He has not had even 1 accident. This product really works. The waterproof bed pads that came with the starter package are really great as well. They are a lot softer, thicker and wider than the ones I purchased from one step ahead.

I would definitely recommend this alarm for kids who are highly motivated. I believe the motivation factor made the whole process go faster and smoother with a lot of cooperation and in the end a very happy child. It has helped his self esteem immensely.

I was not overly optimistic when choosing a bedwetting alarm, unsure of what results to expect. Much to my surprise, the alarm worked quickly and efficiently.
My daughter had wet the bed every single night for 5 years. Although our doctor recommended most children to be at least 6 years old, we thought she was ready. My daughter began to wet less each night within the first week, and was dry on a regular basis in just a month. The alarm was loud and effective. My daughter was on the top bunk, so it took a while to get her down, but we followed the directions and didn't even wake her younger sister.
Although other comments complain that the price is high, we have more then made out ahead since we no longer have to buy pull-ups.
I give this product 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who is serious and dedicated to teaching thier own child to stop wetting the bed.

We should have done this a LONG time ago. My nearly 7-year-old daughter had wet the bed every night all her life. When she was 5, she still wore pull-ups, while her 3-year-old sister was dry every night. It started having an emotional impact on her, and she became withdrawn and lost a good deal of confidence. We tried EVERYTHING to help her. By the time she was 6, we just let her go, thinking she'd outgrow it. She didn't. When her pediatrician suggested medication, we knew it was time to find some alternatives. That's when we discovered alarms. We did all our research, and decided on Malem. Then we put it off for 4 months...

In January, my daughter started asking us to help her get out of the pull-ups. I knew we had to do something so we purchased this alarm off Amazon. When it came, we went over all the materials and set some goals. She wanted to be completely dry by her 7th birthday in 10 weeks.

The first 2 weeks were hard. The alarm actually did wake her up, but it also woke up the entire family. We had many ups and downs, but she had her first completely dry night after 4 days of using the alarm. After the first 2 weeks, she had an occasional accident here and there, but was mostly dry. After 7 weeks, she was completely dry. She hasn't had an accident since. We just celebrated her 7th birthday, and she's like a new kid! She's confident and happy, and asking to have a sleepover! Something she NEVER would have done wearing pull-ups.

You have to be persistent and chart your progress, but this alarm really does work. We are so thrilled with it, we're passing it down to her younger cousin with enuresis. DON'T PUT IT OFF LIKE WE DID! :)

This thing is amazing. We got this for our 7 year old daughter who has been a bedwetter since birth. She is our oldest child; I have a 6 year old and 3 year old both of whom never had a problem. We had spoken with the docs, I did research, etc. Most options were costly, involved medication and patience. While we were ok to wait this out and she rarely complained about it, after reading the reviews, I thought why not. This has been the best $100 I have EVER spent. Today starts our 5th week of use. We have been dry for 11 nights in a row!!!We never had one night in a row. In 28 nights, we were dry 15; only 1 night did the alarm not wake her up. I had her sleep in panties which I attached the alarm to and then she wore a pullup over that; this just worked for us. I slept with her to make sure she would wake up and get to the restroom. You have to try this; she is so excited to apparently be on her way to being done with this. The past 2 nights she has gone without the diaper and she could barely contain herself on the first night I told her to go without it! It is just amazing to see the transformation. I was skeptical of this but figured it couldn't hurt. This is a great investment; had I known we would have such success so quickly I would have paid 10 times the price just to see her excitement. My only regret was not doing this like 4-5 years ago. If your child has this problem, please try this. I hope this review helps. The reviews I read here are what made me give this a try so please check them all out. Yes, it requires commitment from the whole family but what is a little lost sleep in the big picture if you can resolve this.

I bought the Malem last week for my 4 1/2 year old daughter. Even at the beginning, she woke when she heard the alarm and headed for the bathroom. Her "accidents" were very small and all I had to do was remove her undies and take off the small pad I put over her sheets, I did not have to change her gown or her bedding. Now a week later, she has been dry for 3 nights in a row. Not sure how this works but I am thrilled with it. When I was waking her to use the restroom, she would need to be waken 2 times a night or she would have heavy accidents. With the alarm, she immedialty went to one time a night and the time of use kept moving back further into the early morning.
I highly recommend this as it is makign a difference!

Our son turned seven and was still wearing nighttime diapers. We tried things that had no effect at all, like saying he couldn't have water after dinner, or waking him up when we went to bed so he could try to pee again. It made him miserable, and worse, it had no effect at all. Obviously, he also was mortified that he still wet the bed, especially because his brother, who was four, did not.

One other thing: those night diapers are expensive. We probably spent 20-25 dollars a month on them.

I did the calculation and figured that if this product got my son off night diapers, it would pay for itself in a few months. Still, I was very skeptical. I doubted this would work at all.

Well, hallelujah, it worked amazingly well. There were a few weeks of the alarm going off and my son getting upset. Then a couple of weeks with night after night of no alarm and no wetness, with maybe one alarm a week. About five weeks in, the alarm stopped going off at all. My son no longer wet the bed. Just like that.

I think I understand the mechanism: the alarm is unpleasant enough that the child's unconscious mind is trained to wake the child up to avoid hearing the alarm. It worked like a charm for us.

Funny story: my kid didn't want to stop wearing the alarm. It made him feel secure, and I think he thought it was semi-magic or something. So he wore it for about six months after he stopped wetting the bed, until he finally decided for himself that he didn't need it anymore.

Now it's been about 10 months since we started using the product, and there have been no relapses. It was amazing--like we flipped a switch and the problem went away.

In those 10 months, I would have spent TWICE as much money on diapers as this product cost, and I'd still have a kid who felt very embarrassed. Instead, my son has totally put this problem behind him.

Worth every penny.

My 8 1/2 year old daughter was filling and sometimes overflowing a "goodnight" every single night since she was 3. (She had been potty trained at night for about 6 months, then started wetting occasionally, which quickly turned into every night.) Every year the doctor said she would grow out of it, but finally recommended an alarm. I waited for months, thinking that $[...] for an alarm was too much, but when the condition didn't improve, I finally shelled out the money. I'm glad I did, and wish that I had done so sooner. (I was spending $300 a year on goodnights, so the alarm is actually cheaper!)

We hooked the alarm to the outside of her underpants, then she pulled a goodnight on over. The first night when the alarm went off, she was able to stop the urine flow and get to the bathroom. She didn't even call me for help, the alarm was simple enough for her to operate. In the morning she was so proud of herself. The smile on her face was priceless! Over the next few nights, she was just as successful. By the end of two weeks she was sleeping through the night, not wetting at all. We're one month in, and she has stopped wearing the alarm at all. She sleeps through the night and wakes up dry every morning. I can't explain how this simple alarm made all the difference, but it has! I would recommend this to ANYBODY and EVERYBODY that has a bed-wetting issue.

I bought this alarm for my 10 yr. old daughter based on the positive reviews I read. I had concerns about how it would work for a girl, but we didn't have any problems, and my concern was unwarranted. The only thing I wish is that we would have bought it much sooner.

It took us a few nights to get it down pat as far as turning it off. I helped her the first few nights, and after that she was able to do it herself.

It took her a month before she was completely dry. But, each morning, she was dryer than the previous one. She is now completely dry at night.

I did buy a book to go with it, but I wouldn't recommend it because to me it was a waste of money.

What I got out of the book was this: after your child has been dry for 14 days in a row, then you use the alarm every other night for another two weeks. After that, you don't use it at all.

I highly recommend this alarm; it was the best money we have spent. I know the other reviewers are much more detailed than this one, but I do hope this helps.

This alarm is easy to use and works reliably when wetness is sensed if clipped in just the right spot. The vibration in addition to the sound alarm helps to wake up even heavy sleepers.
