Great LED lights at a great price!,

I bought 4 of these to replace some older low-voltage spotlights in my front yard. Installation was a breeze and they look great! The light these put out is more than enough to light a tree, side of a house, address, etc. The lamp housing is metal and very high quality. The stakes are plastic but strong; they went into my hard clay soil without a problem. My only tip is to install low voltage outdoor lighting when the temperature is over 75 degrees; that way, the low voltage line buried in the ground is pliable enough to attach the lights to. Otherwise, it's difficult to press the spikes on the light connector deep enough into the low voltage main line.

Well built yard light, but does not put out as much light as most yard lights, and color of light is not warm color like most yard lights. Review update -> Two of my ten lights failed after rain water leaked inside the enclosures and damaged the electronics.

AWFUL Flickering Light from Malibu Wired LED Lights,
This review is from: Malibu 8401-9607-01 High Power LED Flood Lights (Tools & Home Improvement)
Wow. Most reviewers give these transformer-powered LED Malibu lights high ratings. They must be blind. These units -- the standard flood, the high-power flood, and the tier or 'pagoda'-style lights -- all give off a terrible high-frequency flickering light. This problem has plagued other LED light sources such as cheap LED Christmas light strings, and now Mailbu's deficient design has introduced the same problem to landscape lights.
This design flaw may not be immediately apparent. The effect is similar to that of a very-fast pulsating strobe light; if you're looking at one of these lights while moving, or while something moves between you and the light, it's jarring, disconcerting, even sickening. To see the effect dramatically, spread the fingers of one hand and then wave it rapidly in front of one of these lights. You'll see multiple frozen images of your hand, one for each of the rapid pulses. For another few cents Malibu could have added the simple circuitry needed to correct this problem, but they didn't bother, and as a result their lights are not ready for prime time. Mine are all getting returned, and I'll be buying my LED landscape lights from somebody other than Malibu. (NOTE: These comments apply ONLY to the transformer-powered, wired Malibu LED lights, NOT the solar-powered units. The problem stems from the alternating current the transformers supply. This is not the case with the solar units -- those feeble toys have their own problems.)

I purchased 50 of these lights to create a landscape light scene on my lot which boarders a National Forrest. The brightness and quality of the lights is excellent. They are bright enough to light up tall cedar trees, address sign, landscape rocks, etc. They make my entire lot look beautiful at night and have created a great area for entertaining and enjoying the outdoors.
I installed the lights using a commercial grade 300 watt multi-tap transformer and have not experienced any of the flicker problem mentioned by a previous reviewer. Also, as mentioned in another review, I purchased my 50 lights for just under $10 a piece. At the current price I'm not sure I could have made that investment. I would agree that the $10 price was a real bargain but the price increase from $10 to over $20 was a big increase. Still, if you've shopped around you know that the current price is comparable to other LED lights of similar wattage. I'm impressed with the metal contruction and the LED lights (all 50 of them) have hardly impacted my electric bill.

Very nice lights. Nice bright white light. I bought 15 lights at $10 each and replaced most of my incandescent lights. At $10 each they were a bargain but I don't think I would buy them at the current price of $24.95 each.

These lights evidently replace a previous product which was similar, since entering that previous item stock number brings up these lights. One difference is that these are 2.5 watts whereas the previous were 1.0 watt. That can be important in some applications.
The lights work very well and are easy to install. Added comment- after about eight months one or two out of ten lights allowed moisture to accumulate inside, and seem to be less bright.

These lights are great! They look great. The amount of light they give off is excellent. The LED lamp is sealed and you never have to buy a halogen bulb again! I am replacing all the halogen lights in my yard with these lamps!... And the Amazon price makes them a bargain!

Good Lights - Bad batch,

These are easy to install when they're made correctly. I received a batch that the fixture had not been threaded for the spike to screw into. I was eventually able to get some that were threaded - and once installed, they work well. They're very easy to install and don't require a degree in engineering. The cable is a little stiff when working with it in the cold, so if in a cold climate, you'll want to keep it in the house for a few hours before trying to work with it. Once it's laid out and you're tapping the lights into the wire, you may need to warm the cable after it's been allowed to cool. I used a hair dryer to heat at the connection point. Be careful not to overheat! These really add class and perceived value to a property.

water damaged,
This review is from: Malibu 8401-9607-01 High Power LED Flood Lights (Tools & Home Improvement)
I think they look nice and seem well built and put off a nice bright light but after less than 6 months it seems as if water leaking inside the enclosure from our rainy northwest weather has damaged the light and it's barely lit right now, pretty disappointing for such an expensive light. The other three at this point are still working.

I purchased 5 of these in May. Three have already failed and I think it's just a matter of time before the other two fail. Will probably have to go back to the halogen since these are non-replacebable "bulbs".
