It was a story of her life, sanitized version of what it was like living with the Kardashians and a lot about god which I was not interested in at all. I was real disappointed that it was so light on anything interesting but thought Pam was still a nice girl. That was until I saw that she had a website that was named something like 'kardashiansnanny" and I thought how do you have the nerve to use their name like that? Then I quickly realized they must be into this whole book and her promotion. Nothing else makes sense.
Why did I buy it? The whole family is so sickening.
The book could have used some editing. (For instance, it's "piqued my interest," not "peaked my interest.")
No, it is not well written. Proofreading would've helped, but that wasn't the primary problem I had with the quality of this book. Simple, inexperienced writing style: "I am looking at my jean shorts", "They smile at me", "I see [celebrity name]", "He flirts with me"... No "voice" and very elementary. I agree that this is sugar coated. Beyond her depiction of her perfect, can-do-no-wrong employers, her experience as a nanny rarely touches on any of the difficulties experienced nannies always talk about as part of a difficult job with high burn-out rate (especially those who work for that long and with one family).
Another reviewer said it was self-serving. YES! An account of the small-town tomboy in the big cit, learning the ways of the rich and famous. We get it: you look like Goldie Hawn and every male except David Foster flirts with you. The whole "romance" with Sly Stallone was seems so naive on her part. I doubt he was just waiting for Nanny Pam, his soul mate. They hung out like three times, he didn't get in her pants, it was done.
I guess to sum it up, this book reads like a starstruck teen's diary. I don't think the author has matured past the very naive girl she was in her late teens/early 20s.
And just a note: I read an interview with her in a tabloid magazine (Star, In Touch, one of those) a good year before this book came out, in which she completely trashed Kris Jenner. Hmmmm... hush money?
But the book isn't horrible, it doesn't offend me--it's just pretty much like reading a very long tabloid article with no bombshells and a totally adolescent level of thinking.
