great writing, funny characters, good plot twists, this is perfect LA whodunnit, think Elmore Leonard. If you've been to Marina del Rey, if you've visited Los Angeles or live there, you will LOVE this book. can't wait for Mr. Andrus next book!

Not only a good yarn, with characters I grew to like, but I found Jeff's way of telling the story quite different from the usual. I really enjoyed it. And I too would like to see Jeff do more with these characters, Charlie and Patricia. More to come Mr Andrus? Finally, I have to presume that Charlie is espousing some of the author's views at times. That would be fun to know.

Test #1 (and 2)for fiction: do I like these characters I'm spending my evenings with? Do I care about them? Yes on both counts with Malibu Palms. Andrus has crafted a page-turner with characters I grew to like and care about and whose nuances in personality and ethical wrestling were both intriguing and entertaining. I was sorry to have their stories end but the resolution was as entertaining as it was fitting. But it left me wondering if we will see more of these characters? I hope so! A definite "read", but don't go too near the water...

A non-stop action plot and lots of local color!,

Charlie is an entertaining hero as he grapples with finding his neighbor's killer, unraveling the secrets that lead into the shadowy worlds of Hollywood and politics, and coping with the aftermath of his wife's tragic accident and the possibility of a new love. Plenty of local color sets this firmly in LA noir territory. Should make a great movie-of-the-week - buy the book and read it first!
