When a tsunami floods Malibu, it brings with it a hunting pack of deep-water, prehistoric goblin sharks that go after the lifeguards in their half-submerged station on stilts and a team of construction workers stranded in a flooded house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prehistoric Goblin-Sharks Not Original Enough June 13, 2011
Format:DVD
Saw the uncut version of this 2009 oddity in a private collection recently. This is an entirely derivative plot with a little Jaws, a little Bay Watch, and a little nothing in particular to recommend it. Having said that, I did enjoy it anyway. The action was fairly well paced. There were no plot stopping roller coaster ride shots. No preachy moralizing. And no gratuitous anything. All these points could be held against it. But,this movie was just unpretentious fun. I like insane sharks with pointy noses that can swim one hundred miles an hour. It was much better than the hacked up version on TV some months back.
It's not National Geographic and it will never win any awards for anything. And it's no comedy. But it is fun, just because.

'nuff said. JPF

2.0 out of 5 stars Below average shark movie August 5, 2012
By S. Der
Format:DVD
I saw Swamp Shark and 2-headed shark before I saw this one and I must say those two were just a little better.

This movie isn't horrible, but it's not that great either. The acting is better than 2-Headed Shark and so is the CGI. But, not as good as Swamp Shark CGI. The girls in this movie isn't as good as the girls in 2-Headed Shark.

The acting here is better than the acting in the 2-headed shark, but not as good as the acting in Swamp Shark.

The story is about the same for all three movies. Some kind of event happens and now we have dangerous shark in the water.

Goblin Sharks are the worse shark I like for all three movies.

If you like B rated shark movies than you probably going to watch this either way. Otherwise, you don't need to watch this, if you don't have to.

Goblin sharks? Cool. The first time I was introduced to the goblin shark was in the video game "Endless Ocean 2" and I thought, "What?" When I saw the trailer for this movie I thought that the movie looked like mindless fun. It was. This movie will never be regarded as a great movie, and the acting argues against it even being regarded as a good movie. But so what? It was fun. There were lots and lots of scenes of the sharks (and they looked decent enough--the CGI, while not stellar, was not trying to overreach and make more of the action than it could), the ending (*SPOILER* some people survive) with how the humans kill off the final shark is both satisfying and ridiculous, and the movie is tame enough for a younger (but not too young--no one under 8) audience. If you want a good killer shark film see "Jaws" or "Deep Blue Sea". If you want something a little different and aren't expecting much check out Malibu Shark Attack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chew toys everywhere! September 26, 2011

I loved the absurdity of it, these cartoon sharks were eating people left and right before anyone bothered to take notice and by then they had a tsunami to worry about. It's always something.
This movie had it all: drama, melodrama, bad relationships, an engagement that went nowhere fast, and a snotty girl who just wouldn't stop screaming. There were also not a few amusing sequences such as, "let's catch one!" MMMM-yeah, I hear they make fine pets. Or the overly familiar scene of the twosome parasailing (from the sharks point of view......oh look, they're dangling live bait in the water! Snacks on a rope.). I don't know which kept me more captivated; the animated CG sharks, the INTENSE acting, or the scintillating dialog: "you're awfully tall for a 5 year old." Don't ask me to explain why, but I'm keeping this turkey to watch again. This is so beyond bad or awful, it's genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars move over great white the goblins are here October 20, 2012
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I watch this movie every time I can when it airs on the Sci-Fi Channel network. Of course when I learn it was out on DVD I just had to get it. A little bit of Jaws and lot of Baywatch. This movie start off making you wonder how good it will be with all the shots of bikini clad women seen just laying on the beach. It doesn't take lot till we have classic Jaws style shark attacks on scuba divers and para-sailers. The undersea earthquakes that brought the goblin sharks to Malibu is start the start of the problems as it also causes a Tsuanmi which trap our heroes out at sea in a life guard station trying to defend off the sharks. With the tidal wave damage to the coast line help isn't coming anytime soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unicorn Goblins! May 19, 2012
Format:DVD
This was a surprisingly good movie. An old friend and myself watched this really late one night. Neither of us are really into any sort of horror films, so needless to say it did unnerve us quite a bit. We nicknamed these sharks "Unicorn-Goblin sharks" because of they're odd appearances. The CGI was disappointing, but other than that it was a good movie, as far as killer shark films go.

2.0 out of 5 stars it's not that good.
Honestly, it's not that good of a movie. Check out Shark Night or Bait instead. Still, not the WORST movie I've ever seen. But it's definitely not very good.
