5.0 out of 5 stars Another hard-to-find one that you must have!, September 4, 2002
This review is from: Malice (Audio CD)
Well I had to order it but it did come and I am quite pleased to have it. This is much like their "Seen Through..." album that was made a year before, but the guitars are alot less fuzzy and much clearer. There are a few blastbeat paced sections here, but then there is also the third song "Touched and left for dead" which is a slow but vicious and atmosperic piece with some great keyboards throughout. Sanrabb and Dolgar continue to share and switch of on vocals, giving the music a bit more variety.Dirge Rep(now in Enslaved)demonstrates his powerful drumming, and while not as good as his works from Enslaved, it is still some strong musicianship. Sarcanna once again adds much to the music with her brilliant, but never to dominating keyboarding. The keys are often minimalistic(think soilwork) but do have their parts where they are more prominant, like the opening to the third song and at a certain part in track 7, "The pentagram". In my opinion she is one of the better keyboard players in black metal.

I find it intersting that Sanrabb is the only founding member left in the band. Even from their last two albums(Admiron Black, Murder) the line-up has switched entirly. Not that this would affect the music in any way, I hope . I have heard that the next Gehenna wil be more like this album and the two before it(First Spell, Senn Through...) as it will be more melodic and use more keyboards. Well all I can do is wait for the next opus from a band who will most likely never make the mistakes of excessive imagery like Cradle', or throw in some techno garbage like Dimmu'. HAIL GEHENNA!!!
