5.0 out of 5 stars Gossip Guru Delivers Delicious TinselTown Tall Tale
I got the inside scoop on the raciest, most entertaining novel of the season. Mike Walker's Malicious Intent is a non-stop thrill ride through the dangerous and spectacular world that is Hollywood. And let me tell you, it ain't no Disneyland. Charmain Burns is a sexual predator, a vengeful starlet with a sordid past and a few secrets she doesn't want shared. Cameron...

This book is not going to win the Pulitzer prize but I have to admit it was ENTERTAINING. If you want something just for fun with no literary value (like Jackie Collins) this book is for you. It was a page turner for me but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a serious read.

Cameron Tull, a big-time Gossip guru, will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. This story sizzles with deceit and seduction -- two things Hollywood thrives on. And Mike Walker should know-- he's been a top-notch gossip reporter for years and still going strong! So put the kids to bed, slip into something slinky, and grab your copy of Malicious Intent. In Hollywood, the night is always young.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Negatives -- except for the Reader, December 8, 1999

I can see why the National Enquirer wouldn't like this book. It tells us readers how they gather their info on the stars. I can see why Hollywood might not like it. It seems like a collection of ruthless people in a mostly unpleasant, high-stakes place. And I can see why elitist book editors would look down their noses at this book -- it's writtem after all, by a card-carrying member of the tawdry tabloids. I have no connection with those worlds. I'm just a regular reader looking for a good story, and I sure as heck found it in Malicious Intent.

I've been buying The National Enquirer religiously at the grocery for about seven years now, but the first I heard of Mike Walker's novel was when I heard him on "Louisiana Live" the other day. I got the book at the library, and read it in one night. National Enquirer -- why you hiding this great book under your bushel?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Absolute Ultimate Hollywood Trashy Novel!, January 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Malicious Intent: A Hollywood Fable (Hardcover)
Do you want this book? If you're facing a long plane trip, a week at the beach, minor surgery, or a case of the flu, you NEED this book. Mike Walker of the National Enquirer gives us everything inquiring minds want to know about Charmain Burns, ravishing Southern sex goddess with a pathological temper streak, serious firearms, no inhibitions, and studly playmates of several sexes. Even as your conscience is whispering, "God, is this trash," all the rest of you is cheering, "Bleeping A! " And the pages just fly by. The story never slows down and the characters are just similar enough to ones we have read about on Walker's usual turf to make us wonder. I hope Mike Walker is a lightning typist and has many, many more ideas for books. A star is born.

Like the "Godfather," this is one of those rare booksthat you just can't put down. It's laugh-out-loud funny,fast-paced, and sex-x-x-y. Just when you thought that Hollywood glitzhas worn thin the proverbial carpet, here's a juicy read that's as new and riviting and outrageous as its author - who's on the National Enquirer TV show and on Howard Stern. It's no wonder Howard loves this guy. He`s got all this inside scandal. And if you read between the lines, you'll recognize who these celebrities are. Walker does an end run past the stars and Hollywood powerbrokers who would otherwise sic their lawyers on him to shut him up -or their henchmen to bust his kneecaps. Hollywood is bound to make a movie of this, but no film can get inside the heads of these intriguing characters the way this book does. You want a great read? This book is for you.

After hearing Howard Stern say he'd read half of Mike Walker's novel, and thought it was great, I immediately went out and got it. Howard doesn't read very many books, and neither do I. We spend more time watching TV, seeing movies, and browsing the Internet. Howard was dead on about Malicious Intent. It's a GREAT read!

5.0 out of 5 stars They Say We National Enquirer readers don't read books..., December 8, 1999

I know what they say -- we National Enquirer subscribers don't buy books because we can barely read, but I've been a regular reader of Mike Walker's column for a dozen years now, and I couldn't wait to get ahold of his novel. OK, it's a lot racier than the paper -- but just as much fun, if not more. Mike's some story teller. He grabbed me on page 1 and I couldn't let go until page 400. Way to go, Mike! I'm buying copies for all my National Enquirer friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read And A Delightful Deceptive Look Into Hollywood, October 20, 1999

Mike Walker has written a very good book that should be made into a movie ASAP. Although we have seen, read and recall other suspenseful, manipulative and exploitative plots in other books, this makes you want more in this day of aged media manipulation. What I enjoyed most about the book was it unadulterated straight forward and forthright approach about those seeking fortune and fame. In a strange way, the book depicts those seeking such a life today and I think the author is revealing the cost and glory of such personal escapade expectations. I recommend you read the book and wait to see the movie, both should be entertaining. Buy the book, you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Miss Collins, Mike Walker has Arrived, October 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Malicious Intent: A Hollywood Fable (Hardcover)
Hey all you lovers of Jackie Collins' not-so-fictional storytelling-there's a new kid in town: mike walker. Actually he's been around as a top tinseltown reporter for many years. He's taken his knowledge and Cynicism of the stars and put it into a decadent, scandal-ridden and unabashedly sexy tale of a vindictive tv star who will use every last one of her phermones and personal hitmen to get what she wants. It's mystery, suspense and sizzling sensuality all rolled into one outrageous tale that will shock you right until the very last page. Read it on the beach, on the couch, or (i reccomend) in the bedroom. Malicious intent is guaranteed to please.
