5.0 out of 5 stars Politically incorrect AND funny too!
If you are tired of the "PC Police", you will LOVE Mallard Fillmore! Not only is it great political satire, it's FUNNY, darn it! It's awfully hard to take offense at Mallard no matter what he says - which is probably why so many people love this strip, even (gasp) liberals!

3.0 out of 5 stars Book is old and dated
The quality of the book and the shipping from the seller was GREAT. The book is 16 years old and very dated, but very funny about things from that time period. It was copyrighted in 1995 and refers to the Clinton administration. I was expecting something from the Bush time period. Political satire is very time sensitive. The book is written in black and white, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's all just tolerate Mallard and get along, September 30, 2002

What a great book and a breath of fresh air in the face of literary [disappointments] like Doonsbury, that at least half the time doesn't even make sense. Liberals of course hate this book and the strip because it is so exposing of their hypocrisy. If the left truly believed what they espouse they would applaud Tinsley for his wit and humor. Come on Ted Kennedy laugh a little. Of course conservatives are once again asked to tolerate (like we already tolerate Doonsbury and much of the rest of the "unbias" mainstream press) the intolerance of the liberal left for works like these that expose the illogical lunacy of liberalism e.g. ACLUism, social marxism, communism, facism, call it what you like, a rose is a rose is still a rose, Hillary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for Republicans, June 23, 2002
This review is from: Mallard Fillmore (Paperback)
I think this is a great book to read for those who believe in a more conservative view of life. I also find it fascinating that the liberals who posted reviews gave this book 1 star while conservatives gave it 5 stars. Hmmm it seems like the lines of liberal and conservative are still strong. Just so you know I am a conservative and I think this strip was great. Also, I dislike Doonsbury with a passion and do not think it is a funny strip at all. Hmmmm a conservative bashing Doonsbury, almost as odd as a liberal bashing Mallard Fillmore.

Oooh...watch the Liberals squirm! Political cartoons, in Lib-Opinion, are only funny if conservatives are being skewered. They can't take it when they're the (much deserved) target! Mallard Fillmore is a work of political genius. Maybe the President and her perjuror-adulterer-rapist husband should start reading it...

Mallard Fillmore treads were Doonesbury wouldn't dare go! This strip proves that liberals have no sense of humor unless it directed at someone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review, September 1, 2009

If you are conservative or at least like to know both sides of any political argument, then Mallard Fillmore is a book for you. Its an easy read (but then, what cartoon isn't?) with a sometimes strong, but always funny message. As someone who was raised on reading Pogo in the paper every day, its not only an enjoyable book, but a nostalgic one as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars No wit, no irony, no laughs., February 24, 2009
This review is from: Mallard Fillmore (Paperback)
There HAS to be a conservative comic strip that's funny. I am not aware of one but I bet there is SOMEWHERE. Tinsley should have partnered with someone with a sense of humor. His drawings are interesting and I like his artisitc styly but a comic strip without humor is worthless. My city no longer carries Rush Limbaugh's radio show, but I used to listen only for the great song parodies they would play on there. Those were biting, clever and hilarious. Mallard Fillmore is none of those. It's just lame.

In an age when cartoons are dying out, it seems a shame that newspapes are still carrying this just to look fair and balanced. Again, there HAS to be something better out there than this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does it even try to be funny?, November 11, 2004
This review is from: Mallard Fillmore (Paperback)
I am aware that there is a left leaning daily cartoon that runs in most comic sections. I am aware that this left leaning cartoon tends to upset conservatives. However, this unmentioned comic is at least funny, sometimes. I can honestly say, that I have never ever cracked a smile reading Mallard Fillmore. It does not even try to be funny, seriously. It is just a token right wing strip, balancing the comic page political spectrum. I have no problem with laughing at the right or the left, but come on, tell a joke. All Fillmore seems to do is blast Democrats, but with no creativity or subtlety. I mean, I know it must feel good to be a conservative and know that there is a comic out there that blasts the other side. But aren't comics supposed to make you laugh?

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hysterical!, December 24, 2005
This review is from: Mallard Fillmore (Paperback)
It is a real shame that this book is out of print becuase it is one of the funniest books I have ever read in my entire life. It is laugh out loud, roll around the floor funny. It has moved into a tie with Calvin and Hobbes for the single funniest collection of comics I own.
