Snoogins!,

OK, Lunchbox, here's the plan. I review this soundtrack, and then we go for some fatties. Got it? Snoogins!Like the Clerks soundtrack, the song selection is a playground of alternative music with punk. The title song by Wax and the guitar heavy "Guilty" by punk group All are the standout cuts. "Build Me Up Buttercup" by the Goops is the frantically upbeat cut played where Rene and Brody make out in the elevator. The previously-released songs help enhance the soundtrack. "Line Up" by Elastica and the denunciatory anti-conformist theme song "Social" by Squirtgun. My quibble with the latter's placement as the 21st song in sequence is that it was played during the opening credits and is a way better choice than Bush's "Bubbles." And that's another thing. Where the song order in Clerks was closer to the order of their appearance, it seems that whoever distributed the soundtrack put the song names in a hat and pulled whatever came first. As Kevin Smith is one of the producers of this soundtrack, maybe it'd be a good idea to ask his Royal Snootchie-Bootchiness "Broken" by Belly is their last stab at greatness, and rivals "Now They'll Sleep" from King. The dialogue inclusions aren't as effective as they were in the Clerks Soundtrack. However, the ones with Jason Mewes are the best, as he is one of the more engaging characters in the movie. Also the one where Brody is talking about what his cousin Walter did aboard an airplane ready to crash. Those who have seen the movie know what he said. Not a classic soundtrack like Clerks, but at least the atmosphere and attitude are perfect in keeping in line with the movie. OK, that's it. Nugga nugga nooch!

So many soundtracks include two or three blockbuster sounds from the artistes recent albums. Not Mallrats the music is awesome and the songs can only be found on singles at the most. Pick this album up and make Amazon happy!!

An album much befitting a Kevin Smith film!!,

This Album is a must have for any Kevin Smith movie buff or Weezer fan. It has a well rounded grouping of songs from bands unheard of like Boys Against Girls, to tracks by Sublime and Silverchair. To me the standout song on the album has to be Susanne, this is the only album I have found that contains the ultimate Weezer song, that alone was enough for me. Don't forget though that you still get classic quotes from the movie and the classic song Build me up Buttercup, you know you love it. Don't deny yourself this great album, get it as soon as possible!

One of the best soundtracks in recent memory!,

Kevin Smith is not only a cinematic genius, but his taste in music is exemplary (he's from Jersey too!) All praise aside, this is a rare case where the music fits the movie and vice versa. The soundtrack includes gems from Elastica, Weezer, and others peppered with hysterical dialogue from the movie.

This CD is great, but is made so much greater by the sound clips from the movie. Saying quotes from this movie at random times is one of my favorite things to do, and this album has helped me immensely. The best song on this CD, by the way, is "Suzanne," by Weezer.

Those who loved Kevin Smith's vastly underrated film will no doubt love the soundtrack which features some great music and soundbytes from the film itself (as is expected since almost every other Smith film soundtrack does). Bush provides "Bubbles" which is a surprisingly good track, and the Goops offer a rocking cover of "Build Me Up Buttercup", and tracks from Wax, Elastica, and Girls Against Boys are nice as well, but my favorite song here is Weezer's "Susanne" which was played as the credits rolled at the end of the film, and is proof that Weezer was once a good band. All in all, I don't find it as good as the Clerks soundtrack, but this is a really good collection of songs that fans of the movie will love.

More proof that Jay and Silent Bob rule,
This review is from: Mallrats (1995 Film) (Audio CD)
Snoogans everyone. This is an awesome cd. Not a disappointment at all to go with a great movie. Firstly, the dialogues from the movie are great and well produced and appropriately placed, they are the funniest things ever, esp. Kryptonite Condoms. Down to the music, the best song on here is "Suzanne" by Weezer, I'll never tire of that song. "Build me up buttercup" by The Goops is a cool cover and a neato song to have on this cd. I was glad to see Sublime on here also with a classic from their debut 40 oz. to freedom. Wait, why am i bothering to review. THIS IS JAY AND SILENT BOB. My rule, unless it's Dogma, go get it.
