...you'd get Lucy Adams. My dear hubby, who usually reads nothing but magazines with "PC" or "Computer" in the title, picked this book up off my nightstand to-read stack. He kept me awake giggling, snorting, guffawing - at one point literally falling off the bed. He laughed so hard the bed shook. He had tears streaming down his face. He was laughing so hard that he couldn't read what was so funny to me...he just handed me the book and I tried to read it while the bed vibrated from his poorly stifled spasms of mirth. I enjoyed it even more when I got a turn to read it. Thank you, Lucy, for adding this gem to the treasure that is Southern Humor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Humor in Everyday Life, September 20, 2009
This review is from: If Mama Don't Laugh, It Ain't Funny (Paperback)

With Lucy Adam's honest and engaging writing style, you can't help but relate to the tales she tells. She taps into the insecurities of both the kid and the parent in all of us. And her short vignettes are ever so easy to digest.

Lucy's background in psychology shows whether she's referring to Spiderman, 'The Wheels on the Bus,' birth order or self actualization. She has the uncanny ability to be self-righteous and self-deprecating at the same time. Over and over again, I readily joined with her laughing at herself.

Lucy describes universal family rituals - and the frustrations and successes of average families everywhere. She gives examples that we all know and covers topics that resonate. Family dynamics - Southern or otherwise - have never looked so funny.

Lol. I haven't gone thru the entire book yet, but what I've seen so far I love. Is not only hilarious, is accurate! to all of us mom who second guess if we are doing the right thing, if our kids are the worse kids in the world! that our home has to be the worse kept... hey, you are not alone! Thanks for writing this book. I've definitely encourage people to read it, specially if you need to find out you are not the only one, and have a laugh at the same time. Yes, I can see myself and my mayhem in her, its almost as if I wrote it! Good book. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book if you are looking for some giggles!, November 30, 2009
This review is from: If Mama Don't Laugh, It Ain't Funny (Paperback)
Lucy Adams knows how to make you giggle from the second you open her book to the moment you close it. I picked this book up off of my husband's bedside table when I was stuck in bed with a cold and I couldn't put it down. It was so good it made me forget about my stuffy nose, headache, and cough. If you are one of those folks who doesn't enjoy laughing, I would not recommend it for you; however, for those of you with a sense of humor, Lucy knows how to tickle your funny bone.
