Book Description

June 2, 2003
If the woman of the house is miserable, everybody is miserable. Mama argues the opposite is true as well - if the woman is happy, everybody is happy--which leads her to a fundamental truth about relationships: they work best when the woman's desires are completely fulfilled. Mama also reveals a surprising corollary to this truth: men live to please women, whether they know it or not. MAMA GENA'S OWNERS AND OPERATORS GUIDE TO MEN teaches women how to better understand men and effectively "train" men for relationships full of satisfaction, friendship, and intimacy. She explains how women can investigate what gives them pleasure, how to communicate their desires, how to show appreciation, and how to give back so that both partners get what they want. Mama's theory is based on the idea there are two basic relationship paradigms, the survival model (in which women serve men in order to get food/shelter/etc.) and the Mama Gena model (in which men serve women in order to get greater friendship/sex/happiness, etc.).

5.0 out of 5 stars The book is SO amazing!, June 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Mama Gena's Owner's and Operator's Guide to Men (Hardcover)
Who would have thought that one book could provide so many insights and so many keys into our relationships with men? But, here it is. The "Owner's and Operator's Guide" is not limited to only a few key concepts. Literally each and every page offers new and relevant information that every woman can put into action and have fantastic relationships with the men in our lives.

I raced through this book in my first read, pausing only to laugh, because Mama truly does have a unique and hilarious way with words. And also to cry, when I was moved by a new realizations, such as when Mama talks about acknowledgement, as well as anger, and I could really see how that had been impacting my relationships.

This is a "guide" in the true sense of the word. Mama Gena provides very practical and expert viewpoints on communication and man training, but it does not stop there. She includes exercises and checklists throughout the book which are enormously empowering. By putting these fundamentals into action, I believe that a great relationship, is now not only possible, but inevitable. Thank you, Mama Gena, for your inspiration!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book If You're Open To Having Fun!, October 25, 2006

She's blunt. She's brazen. You could even say she's a bit raunchy - {gasp!} - but she's right on track. It is not your usual self-help book that's for sure. Basically, Mama Gena is saying "lighten up" (which some people on this site obviously have trouble with) and enjoy being you! Give yourself a break. It's a hysterical book, but gets down to the nitty gritty in that most women really don't enjoy being themselves and that when you do start to enjoy being you - others enjoy being near you! I received this book from a friend when I was feeling very down about myself and my life. I found it very helpful and have forwarded it on to several other women in my life who enjoyed it. I would really recommmend it to any women who are feeling generally down and out, a bit blue raddley, or really just want a good laugh and a quick pick-me-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mama Gena Tells it Like it is!, August 5, 2003

This review is from: Mama Gena's Owner's and Operator's Guide to Men (Hardcover)
It's not what you think....This book dismisses all that negativity about how hard it is to find a man and keep him. It offers the radical viewpoint that women need to get out of their anger and confusion and into their own desires. That they need to accept the fact that men might want to please them, and that they are responsible for their own happiness. As a single thirty-one year old, I can say that I'm a bit of a late bloomer and Mama Gena helps women to embrace their own femininity, in the most powerful sense of the word. I am happy to be an independent woman, but if you want to have a man in your life, too, you should read this!
