An example story from this book; mama gena has a woman in her class who targeted a wealthy man for daddy material. Once she
had the baby, she divorced him. Then she asks him to pay for her
to go to school. Mama's take on this was that the man was happy to do so, because women are goddesses whom men live to serve and
he wants her to be happy. Reading between...

Who would have thought that one book could provide so many insights and so many keys into our relationships with men? But, here it is. The "Owner's and Operator's Guide" is not limited to only a few key concepts. Literally each and every page offers new and relevant information that every woman can put into action and have fantastic relationships with the men in our lives.

I raced through this book in my first read, pausing only to laugh, because Mama truly does have a unique and hilarious way with words. And also to cry, when I was moved by a new realizations, such as when Mama talks about acknowledgement, as well as anger, and I could really see how that had been impacting my relationships.

This is a "guide" in the true sense of the word. Mama Gena provides very practical and expert viewpoints on communication and man training, but it does not stop there. She includes exercises and checklists throughout the book which are enormously empowering. By putting these fundamentals into action, I believe that a great relationship, is now not only possible, but inevitable. Thank you, Mama Gena, for your inspiration!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book If You're Open To Having Fun!, October 25, 2006

This review is from: Mama Gena's Owner's and Operator's Guide to Men (Paperback)
She's blunt. She's brazen. You could even say she's a bit raunchy - {gasp!} - but she's right on track. It is not your usual self-help book that's for sure. Basically, Mama Gena is saying "lighten up" (which some people on this site obviously have trouble with) and enjoy being you! Give yourself a break. It's a hysterical book, but gets down to the nitty gritty in that most women really don't enjoy being themselves and that when you do start to enjoy being you - others enjoy being near you! I received this book from a friend when I was feeling very down about myself and my life. I found it very helpful and have forwarded it on to several other women in my life who enjoyed it. I would really recommmend it to any women who are feeling generally down and out, a bit blue raddley, or really just want a good laugh and a quick pick-me-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mama Gena Tells it Like it is!, August 5, 2003
By A Customer
It's not what you think....This book dismisses all that negativity about how hard it is to find a man and keep him. It offers the radical viewpoint that women need to get out of their anger and confusion and into their own desires. That they need to accept the fact that men might want to please them, and that they are responsible for their own happiness. As a single thirty-one year old, I can say that I'm a bit of a late bloomer and Mama Gena helps women to embrace their own femininity, in the most powerful sense of the word. I am happy to be an independent woman, but if you want to have a man in your life, too, you should read this!

5.0 out of 5 stars a real boost!, November 16, 2003

I recommend reading Mama's books in order - first the "Guide to Womanly Arts" and then the "Owners and Operators Manual." Gone are the days of waiting around for the white knight to come and kiss women awake; Mama Gena, with her slightly outrageous and super-frank prose, figuratively bops us on the head and tells us to wake ourselves up! She encourages us to be secure in our needs, our wants, and above all, our femininity... and the result is inner beauty that spills over onto the outside. This radical book is not for the faint of heart, nor is it for the closed-minded! As a matter of fact, the truly closed-minded will probably hate this book. However, if you are open to change and trying a new tack on life, then I encourage future Sister Goddesses to pick up this book and read it cover-to-cover!!

She helps us get in touch with a part of ourselves that we may not even have known about!! Don't take it all so seriously, ladies!! Life is for living! She has helped me TREMENDOUSLY to just lighten up and enjoy being a woman- something I had never even considered and certainly didn't know how to to (as an "acheiver" all of my life!) Love this woman for reminding us of who we are as WOMEN.

I loved this book! Mama Gena had me laughing out loud on nearly every page. The book is so hilarious, entertaining and full of wisdom learned through her own and others misadventures in relationship building with men. This is a self help book that is a pleasure to read and offers great hope for building real, loving and fun lifetime relationships with men. I'm reccommending it to all my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational and uplifting, January 23, 2004

"the_valkyrieb" (Michigan, Via Iraq) - See all my reviews
Being deployed in Iraq where pleasure is hard to find, I found it to be just the thing to push me to keep my joy. It isn't all about sex, and it takes a narrow minded fool to think that. It is about pleasing yourself as a woman. And being a "woman" is sexual, as well as just a description of gender. I don't know about everyone else, but I've never been happy trying to fit my cute little self into the male ideal of a woman in the army. I'm not a sexless, macho, wannbe guy. I'm a smart, sassy, leadership capable woman. So finding a book that tells me I can have my cake and eat it too was a great thing for me. And even though I'm not a sex crazed ..., I'm a sweet flirt. And what could be wrong with a book that encourages women to find their real desires???

Not a darned thing. I loved this book, and I recommend it to every woman who wants to own her happiness instead of wait for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I agree with the last reviewer., November 18, 2006

We should learn that the word "pussy" does not denote something bad and dirty. Our bodies are beautiful and wonderful and do amazing things and we should love every part of them. Furthermore, how someone could despise the word "goddess" is beyond me. There are several forms of goddess religion in the United States. There is a form of goddess neopaganism that is incredibly rewarding for women who have been hurt and scarred by any of the various man-god religions. These feminine spiritualities often incorporate a reverence for the female body that includes, among other things, respect for the "pussy".

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT advice, very blunt, a FAST and easy read!!, January 27, 2008
I'm sorry the other reviewer didn't like this book. That's too bad, maybe it isn't for everyone and yes, Gena is VERY blunt and loves the word 'pussy'. If you can get over that aspect, this is a funny, quick read and is chock full of great advice. Gena advocates fun over anger, sex over brooding and a 'fake it till you make it' attitude with regards to success. All stuff that is hard to hear, but GREAT advice all the same. She advocates that women drop an attitude of holding on to anger, choose fun and if you don't believe you are TOTALLY fab, you can use 'tricks' to promote yourself until you DO 'feel' it and make the great attitude your own! Sounds trite, but we all know it works! Think about the last job interview you were on...! Right? Yep, it feels 'weird' to try, but it works with men, bosses, the whole world...
I've tried this stuff with my own life, and you will get further if you choose dressing up, taking on a good attitude and having good sex over a fight. It's an odd concept to women, but men live this way. Think about that. Why is it only 'odd' to women? Take on the attitude, take on the world!
