Lullaby-like -- read it again and again, enjoy it each time,
By Anna Galeta (Toronto, ON Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mama Means Milk (Paperback)
This wonderfully simple lyrical story (or rather a poem) portrays a nursing relationship as it should be portrayed - as warm, intimate, and, after all, completely normal. Each word is in its right place, and the story flows easily and naturally. The gentle, lullaby-like rhythm is just right for reading it over and over, each time with pleasure. My 16 months old daughter loves the realistic illustrations and enthusiastically signs `milk' at all the nursing babies and toddlers. In addition to enjoying the text of the book, I want my daughter to see that other babies too, nurse beyond infancy, and this book serves this purpose well.

Toddler Breastfeeding Book,
By Denise Punger MD IBCLC "author of Permission ... (Port Saint Lucie, Fl United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mama Means Milk (Paperback)
Mama Means Milk is a simple book for and about toddler breastfeeding with six breastfeeding drawings of culturally diverse moms/babies-- sitting and sidelying. Other illustrations show routine activites of a loved and attached toddler, including one in a back pack carrier. It's an easy to read book. I recommend including breastfeeding book library if you want to reinforce your childs memory of breastfeeding. Include this one in your children's library!

Funky Illustrations but great message,
By arwMommy (CA United States) - See all my reviews

Its a great message, and decent (not great) text but I cannot get past the funky looking illustrations. The cover of the book is by FAR the best one, but the others are so unnatural looking it is almost distracting!!!

This review is from: Mama Means Milk (Paperback)
I haven't seen this book yet, but I'm giving it five stars anyway because as the author of I'm Made of Mama's Milk I know what it's like to create a controversial children's book about breastfeeding. I know that it takes a massive amount of courage, dedication, time and money, and is an especially challenging endeavor to accomplish while in the midst of mothering. The fact that you made this book at all gives you the right to five stars in my book. Good for you Anne Marie! I think the cover is just gorgeous and I'm sure it's a very lovely book, offering a validating expression of breastfeeding to mothers and children everywhere. Keep up the good work. Best, Mary Olsen
