wonderful for both parent and child,
By Maria Beadnell "gotlips" (NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mama Mine, Mama Mine (Hardcover)
The farm woman gently leaves her baby with a caregiver while tending to the animals--and each of the animals has a mama and children set, too. In each case the mama has to leave, for a while, and assures the baby that she will be back. Not only is this gentle and reassuring for kids, but reminds us grown ups that even in the "good old days" when life was simpler, sometimes the adults had to do things and leave the children in the care of others. (I believe this was meant to be a modern farm family, but still.)
Pondor Goembel, the illustrator, is for me on par with Wyeth. I truly enjoy everything she does and her lyrical yet realistic-enough art is a delight.

My kids love this, when I leave them in the morning they ask "Will you come back for me?" and of course I say YES, just like the book.

My 1.5 year old carries this around the house for me to read it to him. Something about Moms and farm animals that he can't get enough of. It reads well - like poetry for little ones and is remarkably calming. A definite keeper.
