Mama Does It Again,
By dorthy9@excite.com (United StatesSunited) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mama Solves a Murder (Paperback)
This book was full of suspense. I think of myself as a good armchair detective but I was completely wrong about this. Without giving away the story I will say you get two mysteries for the price of one. The main storyline involves Simone's ex-roommate from college. It is an open and shut case but is anything really open and shut. Did Cheryl really commit murder? If not why is she confessing. Candi, who is Simone's mother answers these questions and more in an entertaining fashion. Simone who is her mother's Dr Watson travels along helpfully but the main focus is Candi or if you prefer Sherlock Holmes. If you have a few hours this is a good read.

A Quick Read That Keeps You On the Edge Of Your Seat,

This review is from: Mama Solves a Murder (Mass Market Paperback)
This was the first book that I had read by Nora DeLoach and I was thoroughly impressed. She is an excellent contemporary writer that simply tells it like it is and should be. It is very easy to follow her writing. I enjoyed this mystery so much that I ordered 4 of her other novels. It is good to read a book that exemplifies strong relationships, ties, and loyalties, especially in the black family. I only wish that Ms. DeLoach was alive to continue her series of "Mama" mysteries.

A Fun Read,

Nora DeLoach's work is new to me. What a pleasant surprise to curl up to a humorous, easy-to-read suspense blended with the real day-to-day dynamics of a <ahh, how refreshing> nondysfunctional American black family. As Simone is led by her mother "Candi" to find evidence that will exhonerate her college roommate, the duo solves two mysteries. The characters are real and likable, and the interwoven love story of Simone's mother and father makes you want to meet these great folks. Bravo, Nora! Keep them coming.
