5.0 out of 5 stars REST IN PEACE, RUTH BROWN
ruth brown should be remembered more. she inspired a lot of the ladies that we hear more about. her influence is wonderfully displayed here. she is also one of the forerunners of that rock 'n' roll sound. my favorite from her is DADDY DADDY as well as MAMA HE TREATS YOUR DAUGHTER MEAN. you can hear quite a bit of her in etta james for example. i have also heard...

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok, Blues written by others or whatever you want to call it.
This was just a OK.
Would I buy it again, Nah!!!! Sorry
I will sell it to you if you like,
I missed something on this even though she is without a doubt a very important part of the Legend of Blues in America and deserves every mention of the word Legend.
We just didn't hit it off if you know what I mean....She is not bad. Just not for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to Ruth Brown, and at a great price!!, February 8, 2010

This budget collection contains ten excellent representations of the great Ruth Brown. These are original Atlantic recordings from the '50s, and they have been remastered and sound great. This is classic R&B, and you can't get better than that. The only criticism is that there is no annotation in the CD insert, but you can't have everything. What you get for the cost is priceless.
