5.0 out of 5 stars Tryo, May 7, 2001

This album truly is one of the best I have heard. If you want to listen to something chilled out and original then please, please, please buy this CD. It doesn't matter whether you understand what they are saying because they harmonize their voices and combine them with guitars in such a great way that you forget after a short while. If you do buy this CD, I can't wait till u listen to number 11 as it really does make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. For those of you who dont listen to this and choose not to buy this CD unlucky. For those that do, enjoy because I really do believe that Tryo are on the most talented musicians for a long long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally imported to the US..., January 18, 2001

A very, very good album given by this terrific French reggae band. When the heavy guitars of hard rock and the f-words of rap bore you, just relax and play that CD. You will let your soul enjoy the calm, though rhythmed melodies of this album. And even if you do not get all the lyrics and the puns, trust me you will like it. The tune is given by accoustic guitars and voices nicely put together. The French language must not be a barrier, because most of my American friends who tried it and do not speak any French loved it.

It is truly worth it!!! All the French youth is addicted to that band, from hard rock fans to rappers! (and also classical music fans!!!)

5.0 out of 5 stars i think that tomorrow morning, i'll have trouble gettin' up, October 28, 2002

Whatever stereotype you have about French bands-- throw it into the sea and just chill to Tryo as though you were kickin it at the beach.

With a touch of political humor yet giving all the appreciation to the simplicity of love and good buds (in both senses), Manu, Mali, Guizmo, Daniel, and Bibou all put the feel-good and the culture back into french roots music.

Get this CD, and then get 'faut qu'ils s'activent'-- no regrets, I will guarantee.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love TRYO, October 11, 2001
By A Customer

I first heard Tryo when I was staying in Southern France, and my friends there just loved them. I bought the cd, and it is hilarious. The barnyard animals in the song Roots are the best part of it. Also, their followup album is also very good, and when it is available, I would definitely encourage you to buy it too. There's an awesome song on there that makes fun of boybands, so it's very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars c'est genial! Dessus le monde!, February 29, 2004

Tryo fills me with the joy that I thought only bjork and ween could conjure in me, mamagubida makes me laugh with the happiness that only comes from my soul, every word is playful and makes me smile with great memories, they are the beat of francophone culture for the new world, I must buy ticket to charles de gaulle, eurail pass and search these guys out, I'm outta here...the most solid work, among albums like ween's quebec and the mollusk, and bjork's Vespertine...it's definitely on that level. Thank you guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a good roots reggae!!!, October 15, 2001

i ve bougt first tryo's album in end 1999 ,when i ve heard it for the first time ,a marvellous pleasure sensation come in me ,it was so fresh ,so good, the album ambient is so quite ,they try to make a mix between b.marley end g.brassens(an old french singer,so quite too).i think that this accoustic sound is really representative of french reggae music cause the band is really cool(i ve them in live!)and when they play , they dont try to"perform" but they only try to give and past a good time with the public.tryo's idea are so quite too, they said that people must live in harmony with the earth and not war it or pollute it and finally they have soutain "jose bove"the frengh guy against the world economic power.so a council,if you don t have it....buy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Will never get tired of listening., December 28, 2007
This review is from: Mamagubida (Audio CD)
My sister gave me this CD several years ago. It is awesome!!! I grew up in France and the lyrics are unbelievable, dead on about politics, European life stile and the human race in general. The rhythm is very unique and creative. I've listened to this CD so many times and never get tired of it. I've never listened to "La misere d'en face" (7) without tearing up, and I've never been able to play "Yakamoneye" (11) without repeating it a couple of times in a row. One of my favorits.

When I first heard about the group, I was not really interested to listen their C.D, but my cousin made me listen to it and now I kove it, there is good rythme good speakings and melody in it. It's just those kind of cd that you like to listen all the time and really have something to say (if you understand french of course...) Too bad you can't listen samples, but to give you and idea it's c=kind of like manu chao.
