5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully done! July 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book held my attention all the way through! I really appreciated how the author portrayed real-life hardships of this era in a way that pulled at your heart, but didn't leave you broken. She's definitley a gifted writer. I even walked away with something learned.
Also, it's refreshing to share the experiences of a close-knit family. Today we're often swarmed with discouraging stories of families breaking apart, it's great to read how they should be. Yes, there are differences but the love Mildred showed between the siblings and the parents is something to be cherished. I would highly recommend this book or any others written by this author.Coveted Bride (The Ozark Durham Series),Abandoned Hearts],][[ASIN:1463794304 Learning to Lean],][[ASIN:1466449209 Unexpected Kiss: The Ozark Durham Series

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story! August 14, 2012

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I loved this story and I really can't wait to read the second in the series. I love history and am a voracious reader. I especially love stories about early America. My only criticism would be that the book was too short! A wonderful and thoughtful story with wonderful characters!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it July 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoy reading stories about pioneers and wagon trains. Mama's Bible gives the reader a realistic look at the trials faced on the trail while showing the strength and dedication that were necessary to survive. The characters endurance and faith is commendable. Mildred Colvin has a talent when for creating characters that touch our hearts and stay in our memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mama's Bible - Brings Peace to the Oregon Trail August 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mama's Bible is a well-written Historical describing the hardships of travel by wagon train across the United States in the 1800's. Every one of Ms. Colvin's characters are strong individuals who stand by their convictions. They bring vibrant life to the Oregon trail and to the story. As hardships are encountered along the journey from Missouri to Oregon, Mama's Bible answers the age-old question of why the innocent suffer in this life. Accepting Jesus as their personal Savior brings peace and trust in God. Ms. Colvin's characters experience young love and share strong Christian virtues. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and found it hard to put down. I highly recommend Mama's Bible and look forward to the sequel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mama's Bible September 6, 2012
By Ann
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a well written story about the hardships suffered on the Oregon (or any other trail) to the west in a covered wagon. This trip took months in all sorts of weather with many trials along the way but also many friendships were made that left you feeling they were life long ones. Their was illness with only the folk medicine to heal, babies born with midwives or another family member to assist. And all through this story is the strong Christain faith that held it all together and led them through the worst and the best of times. My grandmother and great aunt traveled these trails so I had some handed down tales that fit well with this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great rainy day read October 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Enjoyed this book a lot, and am now reading the sequel. The characters, for the most part, are believable, and the story moves quickly. This is a fast, rainy day, blanket and coffee read that I recommend. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel, and more books from this author.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mostly a love story November 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you're looking for a realistic description of traveling on the Oregon Trail, there are better books out there on the subject. This story is more about the loves and pains of a young woman traveler on the Oregon Trail with little detail of the journey real travelers took.
