5.0 out of 5 stars Cult stunner, May 31, 2011
This review is from: Mamiya 7-II Medium Format 6x7 Rangefinder Value Pack (Electronics)
I own the Mamiya 7ii in addition to my Canon 5D-Mk2, a Canon EOS 1v and a Mamiya 645AFD3. Along with a range of Zeiss and Canon L lenses. For the M7, I have the 43, 80 and 150mm lenses.

Over the last several months that I've owned this, I have travelled quite a bit and mostly carry at least two cameras. So all cameras get a fair bit of use. However, when I now go back and pick my best non-action images, 90% of them are off the M7. A spectacular camera - which gives some very, very special images. It looks and handles like a slightly larger, but lighter 35-dSLR, but the emulsions it produces are just sensational. The first time you see them on a lightbox, I promise you you will be blown away. It has its quirks - the build quality is not as awesome (not to mention the mediocre level of English in the instruction manual that comes with the camera), the elaborate procedure to change lenses and films, and the slightly silly add-on viewfinder you need if you want to use the legendary 43mm or the 50mm lens. However, you will welcome the super silent shutter release - particularly if you like to handhold your camera. You can easily go as low as 1/15 or even lower if you have the right support. Street and urban photography is such a joy with this. It looks so friendly and is so noiseless, you sometimes wonder if the shutter did indeed pop.
