2.0 out of 5 stars The track list is WRONG!!, November 24, 2008
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
If you're buying this because "Chiquitita" (which should have been on the original release) is listed as being on the CD in this new version, save your money because it is NOT. One of the main reasons I bought this was so that I could finally have that song.

The other reason I wanted this was for the DVD since the description gave me the impression that there would be a good "behind the scenes" look at the recording session for the CD. The "Behind the Music" featurette is 12 minutes 39 seconds long. There's a great deal of footage from various stage productions around the world, old footage of ABBA, clips from the movie but VERY LITTLE footage of the recording of the CD. For what it's worth, I haven't actually watched the featurette yet, I've just fast forwarded through it to get an idea of what's in it so I can write this review, but from what I've seen, it's not at all what I was expecting.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a bigger fan of this movie and soundtrack than me. I've seen the movie more times than I should probably admit and the CD hasn't left the CD player in my car since it came out. The second I found out about this "deluxe edition" of the soundtrack, I pre-ordered it. I can honestly say that I wish I had saved my money. There's no difference in the CD's themselves, all you're paying for is the new packaging, a 12 minute featurette that very easily could have (and probably should have) been included on the DVD release of the movie, and the video for "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" which is included on the two-DVD special edition of the movie. If you don't already own the soundtrack then yes, this is worth buying but if you do already have the original release from July then this one really isn't worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mamma Mia Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Album Falls Short!, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
Decca Broadway has completely missed the mark on this "deluxe" release! Most people I know are interested in the Mamma Mia Deluxe Edition soundtrack only because they thought the new CD would contain the songs that were missing from the original release, namely "Chiquititta," "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do," and "Waterloo." Well folks, put your wallets and pocketbooks away, because the CD-portion of this set is identical to the original release right down to the track order and the DVD is skimpy to put it mildly... most of which will probably end up as bonus features on the DVD anyway! In short, save your money for the DVD release and be sure to write Decca Records asking them what the heck happened to the missing songs from the movie!

1.0 out of 5 stars What a let down, December 4, 2008

Can't believe I bought this! Only wanted it because of the extra tracks - I do, I do, I do and Chiquitita - and they're not there. Should have been included from the beginning as should Waterloo.
And the DVD featurette is nothing I haven't already seen - except fore some additional photage from the recording sessions it's the same as on the DVD edition.

Anyways, if you don't have this soundtrack it's definitly a must. Haven't stopped playing it since I saw the movie the first time last summer. Otherwise, let's just say it's wasted money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst decision!, December 2, 2008
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
I can't believe I bought this thinking it would have the missing songs from the movie which is the whole reason WHY I bought it to begin with! I'm very disappointed and the short dvd it came with with behind the music was too short! I expected more for my money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste, December 9, 2008
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
I bought this, as I'm sure a lot of people did, thinking that Chiquitita, I Do, I Do and Waterloo would be included. Adding to the confusion is that amazon lists the first two as included in the CD. Don't pay any mind to that. The same eighteen songs are present along with a new DVD, which will probably feature on the movie's DVD release anyway. Buy it if you want but you're getting nothing new.

2.0 out of 5 stars Totally agree with the rest, December 17, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
The 19 track list that is currently on this listing is a total fantasy (the CD has 17 tracks and they are not in the order listed, I expect Amazon will eventually correct the listing, wish they had done so before I wasted money on something I already had). No difference from original CD, I too bought this for the missing tracks only to find out they are still missing (and I'm going to have to rip them off the DVD). Bogus.

2.0 out of 5 stars Song List is WRONG !, December 20, 2008

Same thing. Wish I had waited for the reviews to show up. I guess I ordered the same time as the others. This does not have the missing songs from the movie. Song listing is wrong, wrong wrong ! Nice book it comes in with photos from the movie and lyrics. Different CD label photo than the first issue. But wasted money hoping to get the missing songs. Now I have TWO soundtracks ! I will probably end up having three trying to get the missing songs. Hopefully one day it will be right.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money On It, December 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
I bought this "deluxe edition" CD of Mamma Mia! thinking that it was actually going to include the songs Chiquitita and I Do, I Do, I Do and maybe even Waterloo (which should have been on the original movie soundtrack in my opinion). I was, however quite wrong. All this edition includes is the original soundtrack plus a 12 minute or so DVD with recording sessions - basically the same thing you see on one of the movie's DVD special features. It's a complete waste of money. If you don't already own the CD, then definitely buy this one, but if you own the original soundtrack, DON'T bother wasting your money on it. Talk about bad marketing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just plain fun!, February 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Mamma Mia! [Deluxe Edition] (Audio CD)
This movie is just plain fun. Everyone, including the guys, look like they had a blast making it. Yeah, it's kind of a chick flick and the men are more or less the bimbos in the film, but when everyone has that much fun it's infectious. Kick back and go with it, guys, who knows where it might take you, especially if you have a daughter.
