I like these Mammoth books for the sheer number and variety of stories. From matchmakers from beyond the veil bringing lovers together, to loves that triumph over death, this collection had it all and included some really different stories by some old favorite authors for me to enjoy but also gave me a chance to see how well some new to me authors handle a romance in a small amount of pages. So when the last page was turned this ended up being a decent addition to the Mammoth Book of (fill in the blank) Romance series.

A Gin Bianco short - A ghost is in desperate need of Gin's kind of justice, I liked it and was able to pick right back up on the series even though it's been way too long since I read the first Elemental Assassin book. (4 stars)

This was another favorite, Blair managed to squeeze an incredible amount of story into this short romance between an Amish couple, a widower with a traumatized daughter and a widow who feels responsible for the accident that killed her child, husband, and twin sister. (4.5 stars)

The Heart Thief by Cindy Miles

This was one of my favorites, the romance between the photographer and the scottish pirate ghost was well done. (4.5 stars)

In this steampunk offering, the plans for an improvement in automatons is the motive for murder - love finds a way to circumvent death, but it is in an odd way - this was okay. (3 stars)

A nice collection of 'spirited' romance shorts - I like these Mammoth books for the sheer number and variety of stories. From matchmakers from beyond the veil bringing lovers together, to loves that triumph over death, this collection had it all and included some really different stories by some old favorite authors for me to enjoy but also gave me a chance to see how well some new to me authors handle a romance in a small amount of pages.
