The best guide for the Eastern Sierra,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mammoth Lakes Sierra: A Handbook for Roadside and Trail (Paperback)
This book has been out of print for almost a year because the author is working on a new edition. It is one of the best guides on trails, geology and plants in the Eastern Sierra. I have had countless people ask for it at the Visitor Center where I work. We are expecting the new edition sometime in August. It is the best and only reference for hiking trails in the Eastern Sierra. For Genny Smith's reference to the Owen's Valley area (Bishop Area), please refer to the book: "The Deepest Valley."

Very thorough and interesting guide book for the region around Mammoth Lakes, California. Included are various hikes, explanations of the area's geology, and interesting accounts of the native plants and animals. One gets a whole sense of the region.
