This review is from: McDonald's McKids Mega PlayPlace (Toy)
My 4 year old son received this as a birthday gift. He was very excited and eagerly tore open all the packaging. What I was left with was a bunch of little shock poles and some pieces of fabric which I then had to figure out how to assemble. The assembly instructions are sparse. The main shock pole components to each play house/structure (there are three total) are all numbered 1, 2 or 3...and are all different lengths. So you have three different length poles numbered 1, three different length poles numbered 2, etc.I'd recommend that you not let your kid rip into the bags, as mine did, and jumble up all the poles. I can only assume, at this point, that the parts to each playhouse are bagged separately, which would have been a tremendous help. The other draw back to this item is that it is HUGE when it's all assembled and laid out. It takes up practically our whole living room...and we don't have any furniture in our living room! Nor do we have a small house. So, three things to keep in mind if you're considering buying this: 1. it's giant; 2. it can be a real pain to assemble, and; 3. it is NOT something you can easily fold flat and store, like a lot of the playtents out there. Once you've got this puppy together, be prepared for it to stay together and taking up a lot of space in your home! On a positive note...my son loves it, as I'm sure his friends will when they come to his birthday party. However, I don't think this is something I would have bought for him, personally.

From Teachers Resisting Unhealthy Children's Entertainment: This toy "glamorizes McDonald's, constantly reminds children of the McDonald's brand, and makes unhealthy food a part of children's play."In addition, "play connected to high-sugar/high-fat foods can lead to poor nutrition, childhood obesity, and can create brand loyalty from an early age." |
