This review is from: Big Mamou (Audio CD)
This is a cd I purchased based on a review I read. I was only framiliar with Link Davis from his Rockabilly classic "Sixteen Chicks" (included here). I must say this was the plesent surprise of the year for me. Besides Bear Family's useual excellent packaging and liner notes, the music is superb! Link walks a fine line between cajun, rockabilly, blues & pop and does them all very well indeed. This set covers his complete Okeh, Columbia and Starday recordings from 1952 to 1957, I'd guess his most fruitful period as it is hard to find a bad track here.Link was very proficient on both sax and fiddle and he uses both to great advantage on these sides. I highly recomend this cd.
